Leon needs to look at what younger coaches with modern sensibilities are doing and get with the program. Atkinson and Muzzula have coached circles around him and if we get blown out today, the conversations need to be had in the front office.

He's already ground Hart down. If Mikal misses a game the sirens signaling the Morlocks are above ground will go off.

I respect the loyalty Rose may have to Thibs, but I don't expect that to be unbreakable. The FO has all the data it needs to make a change.

The tricky part is also how do you deal with Rick Brunson? Thibs and him are tight. I assume Leon would ask the new HC to keep Rick and give Rick the option to stay with the team.

I like Thibs but see his old ways are too big to realstically overcome.

Give him the rest of the year. Hopefully we don’t end the season on more injuries.
Hopefully he develops the rookies as we are in a tough spot to improve the bench.

Your bolded - We need what we already let go of. Isn’t it ironic?

They can let them stay for the rest of the season. Any shakeup means the incoming coach gets to choose whom they want and Jalen Brunson is not going to stop them from letting his Dad go. But an interim may just be someone from the current assistant coaches not named Brunson, basically Bryant or Cheeks.

I’ve watched every game this season, but today is the point where I just don’t even see buy-in from the players.

Let him finish the season, the 2025 playoffs should be his swan song.

Moving on from Thibs won't instantly make the Knicks the best team in the league because the roster obviously still needs improving, but that doesn't mean he isn't a/the major impediment that stymies this team's performance at a certain point after very good and before legitimately elite.

There are several issues that need to be addressed, but none of them matter unless the overall system and style the team functions under is augmented, modernized, and nuanced.

This is the best and most exciting collection of talent the Knicks have had in my lifetime, but it's become difficult for me to watch due to the coaching dogma. They are intentionally left handcuffed and exposed by archaic stylings that focus almost exlusively on turning the energy/effort dial up to 11 for as long as possible. Forget being uncompetitive against the elite, there's a reason a team with two deserved all star starters routinely gets into rock fight/ metal bat games against lower tier competition.

This is the first game that I skipped in a long time. Deep down, most of knew what the result was gonna be before we played. We definitely need to part ways with Thibs in the offseason. But, also the roster is pretty much locked in barring yet another big trade.

I just can’t believe the lack of effort and heart we played with against the top 3 teams this year. It’s extremely demoralizing and quite frankly took my enjoyment out of this year’s squad.

Once we have Mitch we can compete with these teams, Thibs and any other coach can’t have defense with KAT at center.

The same Mitch that hasn't played in 9 months? We got 24 games left before the playoffs. Logic will tell you Mitch ain't gonna be his dominant self for us to make noise this year.

I think he’ll be ramped up by that time but we aren’t looking at the finals until next year.

How does Mitch fix the offense? It stalls against elite teams...

I think the idea is that he would make a significant difference on defense and add 25 minutes to the rotation...which in turn should make the bench much stronger. I personally am having doubts about Mitch putting us in a position to beat the top 3 teams...but I'm still hoping he can make the games at least more competitive.

2nd chance opportunities

Then we're toast....that's an unreliable offensive strategy hinging on an unreliable player.

last season we averaged 1.9 more offensive rebounds than this season....

1.9 more

That's not going to fix our offense.

We need a coach to implement offensive sets to get the players good looks and maximize each player's talents. Thibs cannot coach offense. He never has been able to do so.

That’s a positive way of looking at the playoffs.

So who’s going to the bench?

Hart?

Mitch, KAT, OG, MB, JB with Hart, McBride, and Precious off the bench?

He will simply replace Precious...

I think at this point you would have to bench Bridges unfortunately.
