What they should have done if I was a Lakers fan for this season anyway is keep Davis trade for Mark and let it rip.

Saw a clip on social media of the Hornets celebrating in the locker room after beating the Lakers. That really was our championship lol

They also hugged Mark at the end. Looks like Mark is back in the long-term plans Boyz!

They can't possibly trade him a 2nd time can they? :o

Yeah that hugging it out video was great to see. This team likes each other and still cares despite the tanking. Very cool. Should also dispel all the over the top negativity and unwarranted hot takes out there about him being all blue and losing him for nothing etc. That was a wild week!

I’m still of the belief it’s no villain here. Mark Williams is 23 & having to be held out of games due to injury management when he has only played in 2 games in nearly 20 days. It’s not far fetched at all his screenings showed red flags about his ability to have a sustained career at a high level to match the trade value the Lakers were giving up.

It sucks all around but mainly for the Lakers & Mark to me. The hornets still have the rights of a 7 footer who has flashed big time likely on a discounted market.

Don't forget that we are actively tanking and holding guys out for minor injuries has been their MO all season

I am not too worried about Mark being held out. I feel like this was always the plan to keep him healthy the majority of the year even if it meant holding him out every 3rd game. Especially when Nurkic and Moussa are fine to hold it down in meaningless games.

Next year if he can play 60 games that would be a massive step in the right direction for his career health.

we are tanking about as blatantly as you can... one half of a B2B, you can count on Mark or Melo being held out of the more winnable game, and we'll probably do the same with any other players dealing with any minor ailment the rest of the way.

I'll join the chorus, I get the impression the 'injury management' days for Mark/Melo/etc are about 20% legit medical reason and 80% tanking.

Not to say the Hornets haven't had plenty of legitimate injuries. But they're also slow playing it so that they lose as much as possible.

I get the tanking aspect of it & as a fan I’d much rather do what the hornets are doing instead of mid teams like the Bulls/Kings playing the middle.

But it doesn’t make sense *to me* to keep Mark Williams off the court so much when he has already lost so much valuable development time on the court his first 3 seasons.

If the Mark trade never happened the fanbase would be pretty excited over the 5 game span Mark just played, but feels like half of them chose to be out on him when the trade was announced for whatever reason and now want him gone no matter what.

30 mins, 26 pts, 16 reb, 1 blocks
34 mins, 24 pts, 12 reb, 2 block
31 mins, 12 pts, 13 reb, 2 block
24 mins, 12 pts, 8 reb,1 block
34 mins, 26 pts, 10 reb, 2 block

Shooting 40/60 from field 66% and 18/24 from FT 75%.

All while being 23 yrs old through 93 games. I don't get the point of moving on, if Charlotte isn't committed to investing in a player like this and would rather just give up and start over then we are probably in the wrong line of work.

Mark absolutely deserves a healthy offseason to build up strength in his lower body, something i'm pretty sure he was physically incapable of doing this time last year due to his back. That's what causing his defensive issues more than anything

Dude needs to hit the squat rack all off-season.

Great for building lower body and back strength. Well it works for me at least. I do it 5 days a week just as my warm-up.

merged the OG mark thread w/ the mark trade thread... since trade thread had become the de facto mark thread

Dittos. He's performed well offensively, rebounded pretty well, defense just so so but due to lack of physical strength to bang down low. Also think he is wary of injury, but seems to have more confidence in this stretch. Deserves some strong consideration for an extension. Hope he’s ready to work. We need him!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
