It’s not the culture it’s the talent.

Elfrid Payton
Tidjane Salaun
Wendell Moore
Damian Baugh
Nick Smith Jr.
Moussa Diabate

These are 6 guys who all started their season at a G League level, either due to age or lack of talent. 6 G League level rotation players getting serious burn.

All of those are injury replacements. Even when our main team was healthy, we were still really bad.

They are only half a game away from the 2nd worst record in the league.

I'll grant you the first four but NSJ and Diabate are too good for the GLeague.

When in Hornets history have we seen a prospect as bad as Salaün get big minutes like this?

Drafted as a project, yet a fixture in the rotation.

Peterson must feel crushed watching this kid. He can't point to a single stretch of games where this kid looked like he belongs.

Looks like the roster is about done with the empty self improvement grindset drivel from the HC

Feels like the team got all their energy up for the Lakers game, and it felt good to push that in their face while supporting Mark. Now nothing much left to play for. Once these games start slipping away, this team crashes like rotten timber.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Best I can think of is PJ Hairston?

I think what we're seeing are the levy's starting to break. This front office is in danger of going backwards by putting this poor of a roster on the floor. You're tanking the morale and confidence of our only good players. At one point, the Kings and Blazers were triple teaming LaMelo on the perimeter and we got to see guys like Josh Green and Salaun brick open corner threes.

We get blown out by 40 by Blazers.

Dude stands there and watches Lamelo get hacked all game while we lose by 30 and doesn’t get a tech? Instead makes LaMelo get his own tech. Dude just doesn’t get it.

All while we are 29th in offensive rating. Meanwhile Redick has Lakers as the 4 seed and the hottest team in the NBA over last 15.

It's not just Lee. This team has a toxic, losing culture from the top to the bottom.

It is mainly Lee IMO.
Brooklyn is winning games when they have wayyyyyy less talent than us.
Pistons are the 6 seed with a roster similar to ours.
Both of these point to coaching.

There should be no world where we lose back to back games by an average of 45 pts, let alone when both Melo and Miles are playing.

We scored 88 pts, so the offense was trash.
We gave up 140 pts on 54/52/88 shooting, so defense was trash.
Rotations were trash.
Lee watched LaMelo get hacked and hit in the face over and over, no tech.

Get **** ejected, do something. I am out on him.

Really sad Redick was so close to coming here, dude just gets it.

I'm warming up to the idea of Charles Lee being a one and done like Mike Dunlap... which **** vet is going to be our new Ben Gordon?

Or it points to us missing like 80% of our rotation due to injury.

Take 3 starters and 6 rotation players off of either of these teams and then let's see how they do.

We have been juggling the rotation all season. We are constantly plugging in guys with literally no history with this team and many with extremely limited NBA experience. I have a hard time faulting Lee for that.

Your points are very valid and I am not buying on Charles Lee, however... the players getting actual minutes for us right now are a complete joke which actually helps Lee for the time being. But I'm incredibly suspicious on him for everything you mentioned. Particularly putting our star point guard in an environment like this and not losing his **** considering how egregiously one sided the game was being called early on when we were still in it. I don't know how you can watch LaMelo get hacked and harassed and on the very next two plays accept touch fouls for DeRozan. You don't get to call a game both ways, either you're calling touch fouls on both sides or on none and yet - they did call it one way.

Yeah I tried giving him a chance to improve as a HC, but it's still the same nonsense chuck 3's and let Melo create. You won't win many games playing like that.

I get he came from the Celtics and that's how they play, but we don't have the Celtics talent. You have to adjust your system to your talent. He's not done that so far.

I stand by this if we get the #1 pick they will look for a more established HC. You can't have a Flagg playing in this kind of system.

Did kj simpson get swept up into the abyss during the Lakers Hornets trait confusion? It's like he doesn't exist anymore. If we're going to lose by 40 points can we at least play the guy we drafted over the dude who's been in the league ten years and we picked up on a 10 day contract.

This is a key example of why the question exists "wtf are they even doing?". Also KJ is 1000x better at basketball than Salaun. I realize they play different positions but hard to justify DNP's for KJ (and Diabate) but put Salaun out there who clearly does not know how to play basketball at this level.

Brooklyn did. They traded two starters in Schroeder and DFS. Waived Ben Simmons.
Their best player left Cam Thomas has played in 19/57 games this year.
They are actively tanking and removing talent and they are more competitive then us every night.

They are winning games playing Keon Johnson, Jalen Wilson, Zaire Williams and Tyrese Martin major minutes who probably were seen equivalent of 2way guys prior to this year.

Charles Lee would not have that team close to 21 wins.

I'd honestly be fine bringing JB back right now. We have to admit that he over achieved with this roster. His C was Mason Plumlee

Even if we can't say Lee is a bad hire, fine, we can still say he doesn't look like a good hire.
