Vote DeJounte

Not worth eating this guy's achilles recovery contract and hoping he recovers fully for a player who's not all-star level anyway

Nominate Middleton

33.3 million next year for a player who seems done

This is where the voting gets interesting...

V: Dejounte Murray

Inefficient scorer, overrated defender, tweener guard who missed most of this year with various injuries and will likely miss most of next year recovering from a torn Achilles. $96M/3yrs would be steep for DJM even if he weren't hurt, and the track record for small guards reliant on athleticism recovering from injuries like this is pretty poor.

N: Brandon Ingram

Speaking of "inefficient scorer who can't stay healthy coasting on a single fluke ASG appearance from many years ago"...

V: Jerami Grant hasn't been a useful player on a good team send DEN, way overpaid, over 30 and on a steep decline.
N: CJ McCollum

This feels more useful to view as value when they are tradable. That essentially makes Ayton an expiring, so I’m not convinced he should be one of the high nominees. Grant in contrast totally belongs.

Fascinated at the Embiid conundrum. It seems like 3-5 posters have him #1 worst and the rest have him possibly off the list of top 10 worst? I remember hearing a guy or two mention him at the end of the best contracts. Interesting.

I thought Grant would continue to have value on his contract b/c not many 6-8 wings can score 20 on league average efficiency and that has value + his history of being good defensively with a smaller offensive role....god that has gone poorly. He is shooting 37.5% from the field through 44 games, which feels like it must be some kind of record on his volume. At least his stocks are up marginally? But I don't think Portland can get value for him, and probably have to attach something.

V: Grant
N: Nnaji

I think there are guys on bad contracts who still might return some value in a trade (I'm looking at Sacramento's own Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan). I don't care that Nnaji has had a small stretch of good games, it has been on unsustainable percentages and minutes. He has a five year history of being a 12th to 14th man caliber player, he is not worth that contract and it would require incentive to move it.

V: Grant
N: Brandon Ingram

(Going with Ingram over Jimmy Butler as he has one more guaranteed year and it's also a player option - WTF were Toronto thinking giving that PO to a guy who had almost no interest anywhere else around the league at $40million a year?)

V Embiid

I can’t believe anyone thinks a sub 120 mil contract is worse than Embiid’s quarter billion+. Have you not seen what he looks like even when he plays? One-legged immobile zombie that can’t react on defense, has lost confidence in his shot, and projects truly horrible vibes. If he didn’t still have the refs in his pocket from his constant, intentional falling he’d be near worthless.

Vote: DeJounte Murray
Being locked in for $96MM for a relatively low-impact player with a torn Achilles tendon is pretty rough, and the Player Option on the third year limits the positive upside. Jerami Grant is probably coming next, though.

Really not buying the Joel Embiid votes. I think that a team would gamble on him (hard to know without medical report).

Nominate: Zeke Nnaji
Maybe Nnaji's stretch will be sustainable, but I still don't think any team would give up cap-space or an expiring to gamble on him.

Vote: Murray. Embiid has more downside but there's still a glimmer of hope that someone gambles on.

Nom: Nnaji
