I'm not sure that's true.

KD, Steph, Dray and Jimmy taking up $195 million with a bunch of minimum and 2-way players.

That team isn't winning anything.

One or two of those players get injured for any length of time and they're screwed. But even with perfect health it's not good enough.

It may actually be impossible mathematically, I'm just not sure how you can roster 10 more folks for under 11M, IF it's even possible to avoid the 1st apron (e.g. QO for JK and a bunch of smaller contracts that get moved for KD).

The better question is how do we use the Non-Tax MLE this summer while resigning JK AND staying under 196M (1st apron).

Let's say we can get JK on a 4/100, what's the minimum or max we can pay him in year 1 for cap purposes? We can probably start him at 18 and ascend to like 32 in year 4, or vice versa. Could either use it to get the NTMLE now or get out of all the aprons in the latter years with a (possibly) very underpaid JK.

A new TV deal kicks in this summer - the 11-year deal is worth a $76 billion, a big jump over the previous nine-year, $24 billion deal. One way or the other, half of that money has to go to players.

For the 2024-2025 NBA season, the salary cap is $140.588 million, the first apron is $178.132 million, and the second apron is $188.931 million.

The NBA salary cap for the 2025-2026 season is projected to be $154.6 million, with a $195.9 million first apron and a $207.8 million second apron.

I gotta think the Warriors' front office cap brainiacs will find a way to bring in another superstar like KD or LeBron, if they can find someone to make that trade with them.
