Celts Win Streak Stalls In Motor City! Loss vs DET 2/26

Post#1 » by bisme37 » Thu Feb 27, 2025 2:13 am

Oh noes you guys we got eated by the young hungry Pistons this is terrible!

We didn't play well and the other team did! Celts were stuck in mud, sloppy with the ball and just not sharp enough overall. This was a big game for Detroit and they brought it on both ends, so good on them and womp womp to us I guess!

Let's take it out on the Cavs Friday, Go C's!

Why did Joe even bring JT back in the game in the 4th? They went like 4-5 trips in a row without him touching the ball lol.

I'm over the force feed the ball to KP on mismatches and let him try to score over top gimmick. That should be used sparingly. Dude is just missing layups and short jumpers now. And Jrue taking his man one on one to the rim to blow an easy layup ain't it either. Get the ball to your best player who had one of his rare efficient nights tonight

Can't comprehend how bad KP was tonight. Couldn't put the ball in the basket to save his life and 2 rebounds in 26min???

Celts came out flat on a back to back where the three fresh guys, KP, Horford, and Jrue, were lousy.
Toss this one, gents

Just as aside, it’s possible all of our young guys: JDD, Walsh, Scheierman, Peterson are nothing-burgers at the NBA level. Anton Watson still never even been seen.

In the whole scheme of things that loss means nothing. Boston isn’t catching Cleveland and New York isn’t catching Boston.

Yup, I've felt this way for awhile now. This is the most boring regular season from a legit contender I think I've ever watched.

I'm not seeing it with these guys. Maybe Peterson squeaks out a Hauser-lite role and maybe its too early on Scheierman. But JDD seems like Maine all-star at best and Walsh despite his energy doesn't put the ball in the basket. Don't see any top 8 rotation players in this group as of now

I know he's no Posey, but seems like we could found some minutes for Craig tonight. Was nice to see Jordan, though. Can't play everyone.

Celtics were humiliated on the boards and sloppier while Detroit matched the Celtics from 3.

Pistons had 19 more Rebounds.

Celtics made 5 more Turnovers.

That's pretty much the game.

The Celtics shot 42.9% from 3, which ordinarily makes up a lot, but the Pistons shot 39.4% from 3.

Pistons got to take 2 more Free Throws.

The Celtics missed Jaylen Brown's intensity and aggressiveness in attacking the basket.

Since only Pritch, Tatum, White and Horford played well, it just wasn't enough. Porzingis should have stayed in the locker room.

Detroit's defensive intensity, at all positions, was stellar.

Detroit had 5 Blocked Shots, Celtics Blocked 1 shot. Yikes.

My top 4 candidates for Coach of the Year, in no particular order:

Kenny Atkinson, Cleveland, on pace for a 68 win season
Mark Daigneault, OKC, on pace for a 66 win season
Bernie Bickerstaff, who would have expected Detroit to be 33-26 (7 games over 0.500) this deep into the season
Ime Ukoka, Houston, another over achiever at 36-22 this deep into the season.

We missed Kornet in the paint tonight, especially offensively. That cannot be understated.

I am starting to think Kornet is a better long-term fit than KP. Kornet has improved his rebounding, finishing, and is an elite passer. Very high bball iq. He's also on a far cheaper contract.

Really souring on KP. Always injured, soft, poor passer and rebounder, inconsistent effort, low bball iq. The things I dislike the most. Our record is better w/o him and we could use his salary on 1 or 2 solid players next season. Counting stats don't mean somebody is playing great or impacting the game in a positive way.

It’s not as much as Celtics got worse from last season as other teams have gotten better and are extra tryhards against the champs. There’s only a couple of games this season where we’ve been unable to match the other team’s energy and physicality. So nothing alarming.

Cs now 5-4 on 0 day rest. We won’t have B2Bs in the postseason. Actually, we really shouldn’t have them in the regular season either. This isn’t baseball. NBA today is the most tiring it’s ever been played with the amount of space you need to cover both ends.

This the most hilarious thing i’ve read in a long while. Kornet??? Are you serious??? Haha. We can’t beat cleveland and okc without KP. He is the only one that can match up with the cleveland bigs on both ends. Kornet is an end of bench type of player. Just stop!

This will be the last toughest 3-game stretch of the season.

The problem is the Cs are in danger of losing all 3.

Det, Cle, and Den could be the first 3-game losing streak of the season.

I will never ever agree that Kornet is more valuable than KP but Luke has been a significant street fighter for us this season, and on a bargain basement contract. I love the Green Hornet.

The Pistons were due for a win against the Cs because the Cs have been owning them for a while now.

So the loss is not a problem.

But the Cs having trouble with physicality is something we should watch out for.

I actually like this Pistons team except for Beef Stew. He gets away with so much dirty acts and cheap shots. Reminds me unpleasantly of Bill LameBeer
