I was responding to a poster who was lamenting that we took Wright back for Sims and couldn't just dump Jericho, in which case we would've been able to afford a vet min right away plus the prorated vet min deal we'll be able to afford next week. I just don't see who we could've gotten who would've made a meaningful difference.
We'll see, but Warren was a bad defender even before being crippled by injuries so at this point he's a poor man's Bojan, I don't see why anyone would think Thibs would give him any minutes. Okeke is at least an NBA level defender and is shooting 37% on decent volume. That's someone Thibs might actually play.
Props. I agree. I think TJ is in the Shamet range right now. Not that useful.
I'll add to that, on the Sims trade. When you factor in next off-season, Sims was going to explore free agency and probably get a contract, and Wright probably doesn't get a contract offer early in the off-season, that's a difference.
NY can use Wright him in a trade, like they did last year with the throw-ins to make the Bridges & Kat trades work. So, even if Wright gives us nothing, he gives Leon some trade flexibility in the off-season that Sims probably didn't, because Sims is more likely to sign with another team.
If NY uses Wright in a trade this summer, that's a benefit to the Sims trade. Time will tell if that happens, but Leon (and the numbers guy - I forget his name) are always thinking about these things.
I also wouldn't be surprised if NY moves Dadiet this summer. 2.8 million salary next year. I don't know if Thibs likes him or believes in him, but I could see a Dadiet trade happening.
