I'll just take it at face value and guess he's talking about Pelinka when talking about "the front office"

Edit: reading it again, yeah there's definitely a strong hint that he at least has suspicions about LeBron too, that's why he's making a point about not believing that no one else knew

I respect AD's perspective on this as he's taking the 'man up' approach.

Also, I 100% believe that LeBron knew ahead of time. About 5 gamesish before the trade went down, Lebron was playing with a pep in his step, looking super young and spry as well as playing on defense.

He was doing this while AD was injured.

Lebron has an m.o. later in his career to take his foot off the gas and preserve his energy for more meaningful games. And if he thought the team was going no where with AD's injury, I would envision him coasting more until AD got back and he could assess if the team was a serious threat.

TLDR, the timeline of when Lebron started playing amazing is highly suspicious.

I love AD but he got traded for a 25 year old that is top 3-5 player.

He needs to get out of his feelings and realize he would make the same deal. Why wouldn't you trade a hundred dollar bill for 5 hundred dollars. it's simple.

I don't think so. Him and Bron are very close friends.

Lakers are better this season with Davis+Christie than Luka, so it's hard to argue that LeBron would have preferred this option since rings are his interest.

Pelinka made the move for Lakers future and he made it knowing LeBron might want to leave too. LeBron didn't request trade but could request it in offseason.

there's a youtube interview with this woman named jeannie buss(i think with rich eisen but don't quote me), and she said the laker war room knew about this for two weeks before the deed

there's also a contract thing that has been brought up like 5ive or6ix times on hoop collective - something that has to do with ad's contract but i dont understand these things,,,,but it has to with ad not opting in or something like that that opened the possibility of a trade. concomitant with that is they also imply that ad was open to change.

i don't know anything about that but it sounds like it wasn't TOTALLY unknown. regardless,,, people who have known lebron for years have always said lebron has no compunction about letting anyone go if it serves him.

to the point of ad as a part of a 2025laker run. people can say all they want about ad being THE key cog in a possible run, but don't forget,,,,the lakers were a sh**show and struggling @8th>10TH earlier this year and basically playing this year out like they couldn't care less, when then they woke up from bed one morning and found themselves in 6th/5th. THEN the two started asking for laker trades. luka gives the lakers what they wanted when they were @#10 and nowlebron doesn't have to bear the burden

lastly, great minds like sharing with great minds. in luka, lebron has an equal who gets it like lebron gets it, AND NOW lebron doesn't have to carry the team. the game is now easier for lebron like it's never been before in his whole life and at his age it's easier to opt for that while still being in the race. it's a ++. lebron would surely open the door for ad if it suited him. he's ecstatic that he gets to play with luka

This move was made for the Lakers future more than anything else, they won't resign LeBron if Luka doesn't want them to lol.

I do feel a little bad for AD, he was in the same boat as Luka as a star player not expecting whatsoever to get traded, and everyone can’t stop talking about how little you’re worth in comparison to what you were traded for

Don’t AD and LeBron have the same agent though? It would seem bizarre that the agent would tell one player and not the other

Personally I don't think Bron knew in advance. He may have gotten wind that day of the Knicks game but you really don't need any extra motivation to play a game at The Garden. The whole angle of the trade was how secretive Pelinka and Nico moved and telling Bron and/or Rich directly counters narrative. With how powerful Klutch is, I really don't think they would've just played along and let AD get shipped off to Dallas.

Anyone with a functioning brain would have made the trade. Unfortunate for AD but the nba is a business.
