I heard that Mitch will be on a heavy minutes restriction.

Nah man I don’t care how much we’ve struggled at times, we can’t be trying to avoid the Pistons. Can’t live like this. Tf are we trying to watch in the playoffs? There’s tougher teams to worry about than the Pistons.

I'm with you. I'm not avoiding any team. I'm going through them.

The fit? The highest scoring starting 5 in Knicks history has pu$$y energy? The best start in 28 years and the most wins at the ASB in 51 years isn't gelling? It's not the coach. It's the players.

The bench is used less than any bench in the league in the last 20 years. The team seems to ignore the 3pt shot on both ends of the floor. Drop coverage and paint protection at all costs. Can't make adjustments for anything. No real offensive system to talk about. The list is endless.

It's not the coach. The players just don't fit together. Yeah. Ok.

Last year? We had 6 different lineups last year. Why do people keep acting like last year was some amazing team? Brunson/DDV/Hart/Precious/Shart/Deuce. That was last year's core. We had one month of a great run with OG/Randle. Then we patched together a 7.5 man rotation out of scraps for months.

Waiting to see Mitch back. We can see what it all should look like then. Such a great HC that we have to wait until March to see what we should look like.

Brunson/Payne
Mikal/Deuce
OG/Hart
KAT/Precious
Mitch/(KAT/Precious)

That's what we're waiting to see. Hopefully that's the miracle cure to all of our flaws. I wonder why we waited until March to try it out. The players must be the problem.

1. yes. mikal has been bringing aloof, pu$sy energy all year and there isn't anybody particularly tough besides hart in the lineup to balance that out. can't wait for mitch to get back
2. i'm not saying it was an amazing roster. i'm saying it was a competitive team that embodied the spirit of the coach. this year we have a superior roster in terms of pure scoring talent but way less competitive and tough and they do nothing to win when the shots aren't going down

If we're going to talk about "PUSSY ENERGY" (I love this term), I think of defense first. On that side of the court, it's Towns who is ranked No. 1 imo.

Wingo, this makes me sad. First, because it's true. Second, because I'd like to think of pussy energy as something really hot and exciting associated with a woman, not something so disappointing associated with one of the Knicks.

I don’t know about wake-up call, more like reality check. But with that said, I’m not down on this squad and idea. It’s only their first few months together and they’re an incredible fit on paper.

Shhhh! ¥our optimism about the future could get you a ton of trolling. But could this squad continue to improve with only minor tweaks to the roster? Of course -- they're still young.

I heard that Mitch will be on a heavy minutes restriction.

If 8.7 minutes/game killed Huk, then what should Mitch get? 3?

Without Brunson's heroics our record would be the same as the Pacers, Pistons and Bucks sitting sitting right below at 5 games back.

Jalen is awesome, but relying on him to bail us out is not a recipe for success.

Now if that also is a problem, what are they gonna say in OKC?

They'll say they can beat the worst teams in the league without relying on Shai's heroics

or

They'll say we play a coherent brand of basketball with the whole team contributing with Shai as their # 1 player

neither of which we can say with any consistency

I said it before and I'll say it again: we might never see those top 3 contenders in the playoffs. So, fans worrying about them now is futile.

You don't think we'll run into the Cavs or Celtics in the playoffs?

I never said that. I said it's futile at this point to worry about who we might or might not run into since a lot can change by then. Last year, teams tanked so they wouldn't run into certain matchups (which is how we ended up in 2nd place) -- and that didn't turn out well.

Again, we MIGHT never see any of those teams and it's not a guarantee OKC will come out of the west, which makes fans worrying about them in February unnecessary.

Idk man. Other than January this team was struggling to get wins most games. I loved the all grit no quit identity they had but, it was anyone's guess if we were gonna win or lose. We are winning more now but, the HC is the one with the identity crisis. Playing 5 out and not knowing how to adjust the defense to the players is a problem. Letting them play freestyle and score a lot is cool but, when shots aren't falling and teams are shutting us down we do nothing to generate points. Yada yada yada.

We are definitely a different vibe but, we are winning more and scoring more. We aren't shutting teams down defensively anymore though. So, if you miss that, then I get it. Maybe we start Mitch again at some point and that comes back. If you wanna look at last year's team, swapping no defense and inefficient Randle for KAT is a huge upgrade. Mikal for Donte? Upgrade IMO but, Donte was gritty blue collar player. Mikal is a finesse player. Not as tough as Donte at all. Still a very good player. Shart took his bag and left town. That identity is gone. I don't think it's pu$$y energy but. It's isn't metal bats level energy either.

Brunson/Deuce
DDV/Burks
Hart
Precious/Bogs
Shart/Sims

That was our team from February to April. Then we got Mitch/OG back for a handful of games.

Brunson/Payne
Mikal/Deuce
Hart/Shamet
OG/Precious
KAT

That's been the roster all year with every one of the bench players missing a lot of games. When Mitch comes back does the starting 5 change? It could bring back some of that old vibe. Who goes to the bench? Mikal or Hart? Either one works for me but, I'll assume Hart for 6th man minutes.

Brunson/Payne
Mikal/Deuce
OG/Hart
KAT/Precious
Mitch/(KAT/Precious)

I just want to win. We are winning. We have gone from worst in the league to top 4 in a few short years. Still some work to do but, we are close. Is it the coach? Could be. We still need to upgrade the bench at the very least. Top 4-5-6 in the entire league is a good place to be. I trust the FO for the most part and I feel we have the ability to make moves if we need to. Tight window but, there's a window. I'll take it.
