Franchise Pairs by Common Theme - Discussion
Draft Rules:
1. All NBA/ABA seasons from 1969-70 to 2023-24 are eligible, subject to the restrictions outlined below.
2. You will be required to draft a total of 8 players in 4 rounds. Each of your players must play a minimum of 8 minutes in your rotations. Any player chosen in a season that is pre-merger will have a multiplier of 0.85 applied against their actual fga, rounded to closest 0.1.
3. Your team will be allowed a combined total of 88.0 FGA with a minimum of 3.0 FGA per player corresponding with the specific seasons indicated for each player. NOTE: You may pick a player whose actual FGA number was lower than 3.0, but you still be charged 3.0 for that player.
4. Each player you select must have played at least 50% of regular season games in the season selected. He needs to play at least 50% of his games for an eligible franchise.
5. In each round, you select two players, each must play 50% of his games in the season for a different side of the follow franchise pairs (put together by a common theme):
Atlanta Hawks & New Orleans Pelicans (birds)
Minnesota Timberwolves & Memphis Grizzlies (forest beasts)
Miami Heat & Pheonix Suns (fire and heat)
Orlando Magic & Washington Wizards (witchcraft)
San Antonio Spurs & Dallas Mavericks (cowboys)
Indiana Pacers & Detroit Pistons (automobiles)
Predecessor franchises are eligible as well for the pairs.
Notice each pair can have maximum one player who was selected multiple times to an All NBA First team.
6. We will be doing a modified snake draft. It will go like this: ABBA.
7. Players will get a maximum of a 2-hour window to make their selection when they are on the clock. If you still have not chosen a player by then, or if the player you have chosen is ineligible, you will be skipped. Also, if you know ahead of time that you won't be available to make your pick on the clock then please PM your selection to another participant. NOTE: If you miss one pick and have failed to make it by the time your next pick comes around, you will be skipped.
8. The clock will be turned off between 12 midnight and 9 AM EDT.
9. Draft order will be completely randomized.
10. After you have made your draft selection, please quote and/or PM the person that goes after you so they will know that it is their turn and they are on the clock. You may not change your pick after it has been made, even if the next person in the order has not picked yet. Please note that the clock starts whenever the previous drafter has either made their pick or their two-hour window has expired, even if the next person is not quoted.
11. The winner of the draft will be determined by polls. AI will be used as a single vote when a matchup is tied and stuck.
Team Roster Page Rules:
You will be responsible for creating a roster page for your fantasy team. Here are the things that you will be required to include on your roster page:
. Players
. Rotations
. Draft selections
. The most important of all, you must show the total FGA per player on your roster AND a total sum of each players FGA to display that it is under the required 88.0 FGA
-All of the above must be completed before playoffs/rankings

Re: Franchise Pairs by Common Theme - Signups
Are there limiations like 1 MVP per pair or something like that?

Celtics-Knicks might be a good shout too.
The Knicks name derives from the Knickerbockers which is a pseudonym for the descendants of the original Dutch settlers of what later became New York.

Seems like a solid one, but my uncertainty with adding this is Celtics impact the pool significantly. Might add this pair and narrow the timeframe (90s to now), or stick with the current pairs and timeframe

I am in and also would like to stick with the pool as described. It seems like something different.

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Hoofs:
Bucks
Bulls
Middle Ages:
Cavaliers
Kings
Noise:
Jazz
Thunder
Water:
Lakers
Clippers
Not suggesting we add these as I imagine DB has already looked at the depth of the current pool.
More or less just me riffing on the concept here. You could probably do a second of these with a whole different set of pairs.

Winds shift once again,
I return to claim my spot—
Let the draft begin.
