If we can load manage him he's basically mvp level and one of the best big man.
The Vegas odds have us as the most likely team to land him if he is not with the Sixers next season which still has the highest odds.

Why on Earth would raps want him????
We are a rebuilding young team, not a vet team looking to win the championship.

Heck no to Embiid. He has a massive contract and on the wrong side of 30 with bad knees.
Dude is also the only MVP that's never made it past the 2nd round.
Plus he's such a reckless douche, I can't stand him.

A team like the Hornets would love to have Gradey. I would guess Mark Williams is an easy bet on a return since Dalton Knecht was recently almost traded for him. If they gave up the Mavs 2027 1st and Williams I wouldn't say no to that deal. Dick isn't untouchable. In my opinion I would probably do the direct swap for Williams, maybe try to get some 2nds.
Poeltl / Williams
Barnes / Mogbo
Ingram / Agbaji
Barrett / Walter
IQ / 2025 1st / Shead
From a defensive standpoint that line up just looks way better without Dick. Then you have our lottery pick and Walter who could be good on offense.
Sure, it's possible. But is it likely? I wouldn't think so. Unfortunately Mark Williams looks like damaged goods. That Dallas pick could be juicy for the Hornets. Only top 2 protected. With the way the Mavs have been going and the strength of the West not sure Charlotte parts with that for Gradey. And if Charlotte did not sure that the Raptors would accept it.
Gradey is not untouchable but his value is likely down imho. Better to hold onto him with the hopes of his strength improving significantly and for strides in his ability to keep up with the speed of the game. Dude looks like a late bloomer with his body. He does shaving commercials but doesn't look like he even needs to shave yet.
However, I would trade Gradey for a 15ish pick this draft if the opportunity arose. With Battle, Ochai, JKW, RJ and the addition of BI. Something has to give. Switching GD for a big this draft that the FO likes makes sense.

If a direct swap was available for Gradey and the Mavs pick the Raptors should jump on it. The Hornets have been tanking for a long time I doubt they want to wait out Ball's athletic prime and develop a lottery pick in 2027. The Raptors are more capable of the two timeline approach.

How about RJ to Orlando Magic?
Why for Orlando:
The magic are defensively great, but they can use another scorer. KCP starts at SG for them, and gives them 8ppg.
Why for Toronto:
We ask for Tristan Da Silva and the Orlando 1st. This FO has talked about targeting the draft, so get a mid 1st seems in like. TDS is also a decent prospect at 6’9. And this clears the logjam at the wing.

Raps should look into Moses Brown? His 10 day expired and he had a solid outing with the Mavs. Apparently they can't sign him again to a 10 day.

Would you trade Scottie and the pick (plus some other assets) for Giannis?

I would trade Scottie, but won't include this year's pick unless it falls out of the top 5. Would prefer to include future pick(s) instead.
Would we need to include one of IQ/RJ as well to match salary or S&T with Boucher would be enough?
If IQ/RJ needs to be included then I start to question our depth post trade.

To match salaries we'd need to add 15 million in contracts. I think they would want the pick from this year so that player could be signed prior to the deal and then we'd also add Ochai or Gradey (or CB on a resign). I wouldn't do Flagg, but I'm pretty sure I'd do the deal if they offered Giannis for Scottie, Harper and Gradey for example. Not sure if I'd be willing to include any other draft capital. I think this deal would need to wait until 30 days after the draft pick signs contract.
Team build around IQ, RJ, Ingram, Giannis and Yak is pretty formidable and may achieve contender status in the near future.

If you trade IQ the spacing would be awful around Giannis (RJ, Yak, BI). Sure the pieces look good on paper but I don't think this team would complement each other very well. If anything you'd need to keep IQ, trade RJ, and then look to move Yak in a separate trade to add more spacing.

When I first read this I thought to myself, now why would Orlando do this? After watching last nights game I'm thinking, yeah the Magic probably should. RJ definitely can spice up their offence another level. I like the look of it from the Raptors perspective. But then they would need to get a guy who can make buckets like RJ. Not sure BI, IQ or Scottie can be counted on to do that. BI due to health. And then there's the whole RJ being Canadian basketball royalty. It should be a fun off season.

I can't get over wanting to steal Leonard Miller away from the TWolves.
I doubt the POR pick is enough but I like him so much that I'd legit consider trading one of Ochai or Gradey to get him.

They might let Randle just walk and Reid starts but Miller would be the backup so they won't trade him.
I mentioned signing NAW.
Oh also if making a consolidating trade for KD, use the MLE for Ty Jerome.

Randle has a player option. He might be opting in since who is giving him 30 million this summer?
Jerome sure would be nice off the bench

Re: 2024-25 Season: Draft, Trades, and FA Ideas Thread V1.0
I dont get all the trade RJ talk. The kid is 23, is still improving, and done everything from run the point, to start at PF. He is the best player they have off the dribble getting to the rim, and he is averaging career highs in ppg, apg and rpg. If I am trading someone for an upgrade, its IQ and Poeltl.
Barrett is a dawg. They are going to need him when they get back to the playoffs again. I know Gradey has had a good year, but RJ is still my starting SG.
Not to mention he is the perfect age, and isnt going to want to leave in a few years. New Orleans may gave tried to get him, but I dont think Masai and Bobby want to send him anywhere. And they shouldn’t.
I think Shead is a dawg too. That kid is a winner like FVV was. He’s already better off the dribble than iQ, he’s a better defender, and he is an improved 3pt shooter.

With the emergence of Jakobe, I'm fine trading Agbaji. For a star, I am cool trading Barrett and Dick too. We have Brandon Ingram.
We can just have a hungry AJ Lawson off the bench at SG and Battle as the 3rd SF. Need to get KD.

Possibly. RJ is kinda polarizing. He seems like the odd man out due to contracts. The team is dedicated to BI and Barnes next season. And likely needs IQ's shooting. If RJ keeps it up he's gonna want big money. But maybe they think he keeps improving like DeMar. And he's shown strides defensively.
Curios if you see him as a long term piece or that you think trade him but for more value. It's certainly not a sexy trade. TDS and a 16ish pick in the draft is nice though. KCP is for salary. Two more years at $21M so he should be tradeable unless he's totally fallen off a cliff. He's only 31.
