I use similar methodology to Ben Taylor's top 40 list. I basically rate each season by CORP value using these tiers:

Low High Mean
GOAT-level 30% 36% 33%
All-time 23% 30% 27%
MVP 17% 23% 20%
Weak MVP 12% 17% 15%
All-nba 8% 12% 10%
All-star 5% 8% 7%
Sub all-star 3% 5% 4%
Role player 1% 3% 2%

My list is very rough estimation, because I give all seasons in all-nba tier the score of 10%. That's not realistic, some seasons in that tier are better than the other, but I did that for over 80 players and it's very time consuming to give the exact rate for all seasons of all players.

Curious to know how many GOAT level seasons you feel there have been and by how many players.

My rankings don’t have GOAT level, just “All-Time”

But Lebron has 8, MJ 7 seasons

Kareem 3, Russell 3, Shaq 2, Hakeem 1, Duncan 2, KG 2, Wilt 1, Magic 1, Bird 1, Giannis 1, Jokic 2, Mikan 4, Curry 1

I’d imagine GOAT LEVEL would be MJ 89-91. Maybe Lebron 12-13

I was more loose with GOAT-level seasons, as I simply don't think one player peaked clearly higher than the rest (unlike most here). I gave GOAT seasons to Mikan, Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Jordan, Hakeem, Shaq, James and Jokic (I don't have the spreadsheet next to me now, I think that's all). My lower estimations generally exclude all GOAT seasons.
