Cuck GM Landry Fields

Gave DeAndre Hunter to the Cavs who was a 6MOY favorite a lot of the season & since Jalen Johnson got injured was Hawks probably 3rd best player & 2nd best player who some nights.

Got back Cavs probably 6th or 7th best player

They moved Hunter for cheap, yeah. Maybe they didn't want to pay back up player that salary, or feared he would return to his previous norms. I believe Johnson was already out when the move happened, so they probably just trying to get best draft pick by now, being stuck in play in for years isn't that promising.

Landry wasn't the GM for that. Travis Schlenk was and the decision was made by the owner (Tony Ressler) and his son because they just had to have DeJounte Murray.

If you stopped watching your wife and your bull every night and watched an Atlanta game for the last 6 years you understand why Atlanta wanted to get rid of Hunter for the last 4 years and he finally has value. He was semi-contributing without being out for large stretches with the same knee injuries he had his entire career.

Never seen a guy who's a large wing who could bother elite perimeter guards get utterly exposed once he has to guard anyone who is his height and he couldn't bully with his weight.

Schlenk was against the Murray trade which occurred on June 29, 2022. Fields was announced as the GM on July 1st 2022, with Schlenk just maintaining his POB role.
Nick Ressler (the owners son) wanted the trade and so it happened. But make no mistake, Landry Fields is tied at the hip with Lil Nicky. They met scouting in Europe and eating chicken nuggets. He brought Landry in as the GM of the GLeague team initially, then parlayed that to Hawks GM.
6 months after that trade, Schlenk was moved to an 'advisory' role to the owner. Then fully out before the season ended.

20M per isn’t that bad at all for Hunter whether he’s a starter or first guy off the bench. It was a dumb move by them regardless. LeVert and neing aren’t going to help them at all. And 2nd round picks are useless. They could’ve gotten more for Hunter if they showcased him more and waited till the offseason.

It's about the future money saved on Hunter's contract next season. Levert is expiring and Niang is $8 million
Owner is always about avoiding the tax, not about talent acquisition in trades.
