Interestingly, the Celtics in 2020-21 season. Tatum's 4th season, Brown's 5th. Season prior (2019-20) they were 48-24 and went to the conference finals.

Theis/R.Williams
T.Thompson/G.Williams
Tatum/Fournier
Brown/Pritchard
Kemba/Smart

Finished 36-36, knocked out 4-1 in the 1st round.

The following summer they added Horford, White and Schroeder and went to the Finals.

They really went to work in offseason.
Traded Kemba for Horford and 16th pick, got Schroder on 1 year deal, flipped him mid season for Thies, mid season traded another pick and former first round pick (Langford) for White.

Not sure how reception among fans here would be if they find out Magic are trading draft picks and starters for people in mid 30s tho :lol:

I’m just saying that even the current champs have had a bad season in their rebuild and recently.

But Weltman will have to get busy if there is any more to the comparison than a bad season.

We need to turn KCP and assets to Maxey type guard somehow to have ballhandling PnR perimeter option next to star forwards

Your fixation on playstyle and offense is wild to me. Yes the offense sucks yes it's worse than last year. Also yes the key cogs in the offense have been injured. The biggest issue with the offense last season were turnovers. We're actually not bottom 10 in turnovers this year. It's shooting that's really hurt us. Getting healthy and player development will solve that problem. I guarantee you we're not a bottom 20 offense if we're healthy.

we've been in the bottom 10 in offense since Weltman has been here in 2017-2018, shocker we're being super critical of the offense :banghead: :banghead:

17-18 -> 25 of 30
18-19 -> 22 of 30
19-20 -> 23 of 30
20-21 -> 29 of 30
21-22 -> 30 of 30
22-23 -> 26 of 30
23-24 -> 22 of 30
24-25 -> 28 of 30

so in 8 seasons we're averaging around 25th worst offense in the NBA. Take it back the last 5 years and we're 27th worst offense in the NBA. This whole wait until we're healthy garbage NEEDS TO STOP, we're a terrible offensive team. There's always an excuse, last year turnovers, this year shooting, next year it'll be forcing things.
The problem with that position is that it's leading you and others to throw the baby out with the bathwater. You're turning on Paolo, you're turning on Mosley. Why not just accept that we are in year four of a rebuild and our best players are only 23 years old and under? And that their offensive abilities are making progress? And that a big reason we've had a setback with the offense is because they've been injured? And that player development is the main improvement driver until our best players are in their primes?

Like all these things I'm saying are common sense. You get thrown into like a blind rage about the offense and start spouting stuff "like 8 years" this, when we're actually in year 4 of a rebuild. Paolo must suck because our offense sucks, when in reality he's just injured and only 22.

Again, simple math. Highest usage scorer has below leaque average efficiency, chance your offense isn't good is pretty high, no matter the shooting. If we had good shooting our ceiling would still only be a middle of the leaque offense because Paolos low eff. and iso playstyle sinks it.
We need a PG, shooting, a better system AND we need Paolo playing like the player he is hyped up despite all the impact stats telling us the opposite.
Or are we expecting the other players not named Paolo (and Franz but he is much less the problem) to bring us a contender worthy offense despite Paolo is being paid max money soon to do just that because he doesnt help on the defense side?

Plus all the talk about shooting. Even Simon's won't help that much (except tanking our defense like Kemba did to that Celtics team btw) for us as long as your 2 super high usage (3 in case of all of Suggs career except 1 season) Max players shooting 30-32%.
