They’ve never had issue paying the tax despite not having gotten past the second round the past three seasons and only made the Midds move to duck the second apron for the non-monetary punishments (freezing draft picks, draft picks going to the end of the first round, can’t aggregate salaries in trades, limitations on signing buyout players, so forth).

They’ve never made a single move that seemed directly and solely related to saving tax money.

Sure, but it would be silly to sign Rollins early and pay extra tax for nothing. It always made sense to use his entire 2 way eligibility.

They’ve already used his full eligibility. If they want to use him in a regular season game again, they have to convert him. If they want him available for the playoffs, I believe they have to do so by March 7.

Sure, but it would be silly to sign Rollins early and pay extra tax for nothing. It always made sense to use his entire 2 way eligibility.

To be playoff eligible, he just has to be signed by the last day of the regular season.
