Can't complain at all that we stuck with Mcbride though

Careful. Trolls around here will bookmark your Klay comment and repeat it forever.

But, yeah, Grimes was always some kind of Klay clone in how he plays on both ends of the court. It's pretty obvious.

It's a comparison though, not a statement about what level he has reached. Grimes has all the tools to be impactful if he achieves consistency and is aggressive.

Good. GTFO of this league.

As I predicted. He's done and Sixers get a Get Out of Jail Free Card from the NBA.

All of this. Grimes has the full SG bag when he deigns to use it. We'll see if this is a real breakout or if he goes back into his shell and takes 5 shots his next game.

Love Deuce too. All of our best lineup combos have McBride in them. He's been really solid. And with Deuce, confidence is NOT an issue.

Grimes always had the bigger upside and he still does. Plus, he's a bigger guard so he has size Deuce lacks.

I'm a fan of both players. Glad we still have one of them.

This honestly sounds like them trying to push him out via trade request.

Sounds like a big ask.

Would a team take him on as an expiring?

Grimes issue with us was that thibs killed his confidence so he passed way too much and didn’t look for his shot enough. He should’ve been getting up at least 10 FGA a game with us but never cracked more than 8 on a season

Nice to see him expanding his role on offense more now that he broke free from the shackles

I disagree...Thibs gave him every chance to shine.. actaully he was a "Thibs" type of player....but dude was just too tentative and too deferential at times. And somehow even though his stroke always looked pure the results were off. Almost like he was actually playing at a faster pace than what was necessary. If he finally figured things out thats good but he had a fair shot in NY and just couldn't make the most of it.

That's generally true but confidence IMO is one of the most important skills in basketball and pro sports in general. Grimes lacked that. Grimes played 30 minutes under Thibs just 3 seasons ago. Despite my criticism of Thibs I have a hard time envisioning Thibs telling Grimes to pass up on open 3-pointers etc. Grimes does not have the same confidence level as Deuce so I can understand the decision to keep Deuce over Grimes. Confidence is one of those skills that is hard to teach---if Grimes somehow manages to develop a higher level of confidence then really good for him.

Grimes had a great game I see. He would always miss a majority of those middy pull ups and then get tentative the rest of the game if it wasn’t a layup or a spot up 3. That was his issue with us. Thibs gave him plenty of opportunities to show his stuff here. Just couldn’t find consistency.

He should get plenty of opportunities on that horrible Philly team tho

I don't know how any Thibs supporter could be a Grimes supporter as well.

Avoided another McDyess situation, meanwhile KAT puts up 30 & 20 every game

I was Grimes biggest supporter here so nobody was more disappointed when he developed a bad case of the yips.

Nobody knows what went on between his ears or between him and Thibs. Sometimes a player needs to reboot elsewhere.

That said, a confident Grimes is an effortless scorer. He has the bag if he goes for it. Plus, he was one of the league's top defenders when he first played big minutes for us.

The klay comps don't really make sense. Just because both can shoot 3's doesn't mean they're the same. If we're talking build wise and scoring wise (when he's in his bag), Grimes is more of a homeless man Jamal Murray without the advanced playmaking. Both are 6'4 210 lbs, have a pretty similar pull up game. I used to talk about Grimes when he was in HS. He was a combo guard back then. That's not klay thompson.

Didn't Elfrid Payton have 21 assists in a game earlier in the season?

Some guys like Grimes--I suspect--need to have the full backing and support of their coach. Through thick and thin...complete trust. Then they'll perform to their potential even if they're somewhat consistent. The problem with Grimes was that once he was looking over his shoulder and struggling, he became way too inconsistent probably because he didn't feel he had the full support of the Coach. Trust issues.

I just saw some tape of an 18 year old prospect named Darryn Peterson and I'm floored. This kid reminds me of Anfernee Hardaway with his combination of speed, handle, footwork, leaping ability and touch with both hands. I'd say he's about 6'6 in shoes.

Edit:

Maaaaaaaan. This kid is gonna be special.

I need to check my BaF draft pick situation i might have to tank
