Re: Franchise Pairs by Common Theme - Discussion
Sorry, I have to re-pick. I thought the rule was 2 MVPs, not 2 All-NBA 1st team.

I thought the Top 5 player in multiple years, Detroit Pistons wing was a better pairing with Reggie.
The guy you’re talking about struggles to find success in these games- harder to fit with other players, though he’d certainly fit with Reggie experience tells me he wouldn’t be fully embraced.
Billups/Reggie has the same dynamic Billups had with his real life backcourt mate. Just much much better.

Dirk/Manu had you written all over it - but one pick too low.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Yeah I'd have picked that if it had fallen to 3 100 percent.

Continue to think Chauncey is seriously overrated in these. Good value, an easy fit, but people are putting him on too high a pedestal. But tbh I'd still pick him fairly high since I know he's an edge in judging.
I think Fade pulled off a sneaky good pairing in KD/Butler.

Nothing sneaky about KD/Butler. I considered that pair at 3.
I considered a lot of pairs at 3 that were picked notably later. 3 was a rough spot in this one- I thought the top 2 picks were pretty clear.
Went with a pair that would give my team a nice clear identity. Plus KG is also one of my faves.
I to be frank don't feel all that hopeful about the bottom of the second round in this one. Most of the good centers I would have wanted to use are (or surely will be) gone by the time my next pick comes up, so I do feel some vindication for the path I've chosen. We'll see if there's enough "juice" left in terms of depth of the pool to build something competitive here.

KD/Butler isn't sneaky, is it?

I was hoping the Centers would dry-up so I don't feel bad about passing on other ones and then having them available. Its looking like a couple MVP caliber centers will still be here for my pick, unfortunately.

Think Gobert/Jaren big pairing works. Tight D and both provide enough on O. It looks like it's going to dry up fast.
Hope KJ is viewed as the top level PG he is. He was among the best players a few seasons in his career.

Gobert/Jaren is a great pairing. Gobert was slightly worse than some of the Top Centers available, although cheaper. I think JJJ is better than any Wizards players I would draft and pair with the Top Centers.

Miami Shaq is slower and has more defensive issues.
I get why Ness did it- Mikal is a really valuable piece to pair with him and Billups/Reggie/Bridges with any version of Shaq is very strong. I definitely would have taken Shaq in Ness's shoes. Not sure which version I'd have gone with.

He was 8th in DPOY, 2nd in MVP, and still all NBA 1, his defense was more than above average. He wasn’t as dominant as his Lakers run, then again, nobody is. But he was still right up. His Heat seasons are rarely picked because every chooses his LAL season 1st and foremost, and his Magic season when Magic are available only. With really only Duncan/Robinson as dominant centers, I’ll happily settle for the 3rd best in this draft.

I don’t think 8th in DPOY is the endorsement you think it is for a big name like Shaq.
He was still a great player though.
