Stephen Curry had this exact surgery in 2018 and it didn't really impact him much long-term.

Westbrook has had it twice I believe. It isn't a super complex surgery.

All things considered, a knee scope isn’t a huge deal in the grand scheme of things.

Probably only a 6-8 week rehab honestly.

Sounds really serious for long term problems

Sell high or low but just sell

If it stays at bay for 3 to 5 years that doesn’t sound bad.

Sure I would love all our players to be unscathed and in perfect physical health. I don’t think that’s possible when you play at an elite level.

Any time you repair or remove damaged cartilage in a joint, there's obviously some risk of long-term problems, but those problems vary significantly in seriousness.

Hopefully he makes a full recovery and this doesn't turn into a boat anchor contract

This is a damn shame.

Hopefully, he makes a full recovery.

Everything I have read Curry has never had this issue.

Westbrook is pretty far from peak and has been.

You don't tank when your cap is like the 11th pick.

Another mid 10s lottery pick doesn't help this team.

I guess tank isn't the right word. I am just worried about Franz or Paolo getting hurt for nothing.

I wish when my company was having a tough stretch they’d feel that way about me. Like why risk Chase getting hurt? Tell him to stay home and we’ll still pay him.

The MDs are obviously right about this... but I think this happens a lot with players in general. It's just that a lot of this isn't reported because they don't want fans to freak out.

I think Kobe had like 3-4 knee surgeries/procedures between 04-12 and was at his peak during that time.

Why TF did we convert a two-way PG if we're never going to use him in real game action.

With the obvious caveat that I am in no way a pro athlete (or a medical professional), I've had this exact surgery and was able to return to basketball at the same level as before within about 6 months. I assume that it is different for different people depending on the amount/location of the cartilage removed, but if my experience is any indication then Jalen will be fine, it just takes time to recover.

It might shorten his career at the back end, as less cartilage = less shock absorption, so his knees might give out earlier than most (I am also worried about this, I am 36, 100kg and heavy footed and have been playing for over 20 years - might be in a wheelchair by 40 ).

Hope he makes a full recovery.

Kinda upset how we have been left in the dark.

In hindsight. I feel like our lack of trade deadline movement makes a bit more sense. I am willing to bet that this isn't a new announcement. Now that tread deadline and all-star break is over this comes out. I don't like defending management, but if word even secretly got out, then the asking price other teams asked being high may not have been hyperbole after all.

Inaction seems to be contagious, nate tibbets leaves the team for a HC position, mose does nothing to replace him..... We lose moe to ACL.... Weltman does nothing to help the situation .... Suggs out indefinitely, probably knew before deadline.... Does nothing to help the situation.... Very risk adverse

What’s the risk really? It’s just basic that you have to do things to patch inevitable holes…he’s just bad at his job. He doesn’t DO his job.

I can understand “not panicking” but you cant just ignore such dramatic hits to your team and keep rolling. Moe ‘s role, in particular, would have been easier- just a bucket getter off the bench…they’re around

A mosaicplasty is a much more significant surgery than just a knee scope to remove a cartilage fragment.
