I mean Deebo is only 29 and he’s getting dealt for a 5th round pick.

It’s all about understanding the market.

49ers moving on from him because of his contract, no longer matches his production.

But when a team trades for him, do they still have to pay the player what he'd have gotten if he wasn't traded?

Well Commanders could try to restructure his contract, lower the cap hit.

But interested teams could theoretically have waited out for the 49ers to cut him and then try to sign him to as low as a minimum salary contract?

However, the teams with the worst records would be on top of the waiver list and get the first chances to claim him and try to sign him to a real cheap contract?

I could be wrong but the team trading for him only has to pay him his annual salary as long as he’s on the team (it’s not guaranteed though). The Niners are responsible for all of the guaranteed money in his contract. So they still have a dead cap hit for him. Washington would have no cap hit if they cut him.

Washington is only out a 5th round pick.

I highly doubt his production comes anywhere near his salary. He has been regressing for a while and he is on the wrong side of the cliff for receivers I've been talking about.

He was almost a lock to get released, getting anything for him is great. Niners obviously planning for next year when the meat of Purdy's deal kicks in.

Deebo is a borderline no.2 WR, maybe a solid no.3. Behind McLaurin, he may be effective.

Like this for Washington. They get a buy low high reward WR to take pressure off scary Terry. I also love Dallas paid more fore Mingo than Washington did for Debo. Was hoping Washington stayed away from Tee Higgins and DK.

Buffalo or Baltimore should target DK. I think Myles Garrett is coming down to Philly, Detroit, Washington and either Green Bay or Buffalo if he's traded within the AFC. My thoughts are Cleveland wants him out of their division and conference plus a haul back.

If a team like Philly, Washington or Detroit miss on Myles what's the likelihood Crosby is moved?

Maxx Crosby? He's a Raider for life.

At some point he's gong to get frustrated with mediocrity. Raiders whiffed on moving up for Daniels after he said he would love to be a Raider watched them treat Josh Jacobs like he was done and still don't have a QB or true #1 WR. Bowers is really good but let's be honest the rest of the team outside Crosby isn't. I think if The Raiders don't grab Ward, Sanders or Carter then I don't see how Maxx doesn't look to go win a ring

Now that Brady has taken a prominent role within the organization, recruiting players shouldn't be an issue. The same is true of Pete Carroll. I think Maxx sticks around.

Both those teams could use him but they are both 15 million over the cap. Obviously they will soon be under and can move stuff around but it won’t be easy.

It's actually a lot easier than you think lol. It's very easy to manipulate the cap. Restructures, backloading contracts, etc.

Also, if he signs an extension with a team, then his cap number this year would lower significantly.

I get all that. lol
Even said it in my post.
The easiest way would be to sign him to an extension.
Washington was your best chance.

Best chance at a trade? Several teams have already shown interest. It's been reported that Green Bay & New England have both made offers. Buffalo, KC & likely more teams.

Fwiw I'm not entirely convinced that he's going to be traded this offseason.

Bengals released Cappa. No shock here, he was the worst guard in the NFL last season, by multiple metrics.

Bengals have officially franchise tagged Tee for the 2nd season in a row.

This is the only player they have ever tagged twice.
