Great contract for a player that's actually a full year younger than Agbaji and would have cost Toronto no assets. I'll never understand why management had zero interest in keeping him.

Another player we lost for nothing.

Also got for nothing

I just assume whenever Washington signs a player to a longer term contract, it's for tanking purposes and not actually for winning, until proven otherwise.

We had a coach who wasn't going to live thru the ups and downs. Just like Boston didn't.

And even Washington, he played most of the year in the Gleague. Good for him for getting that contract.

i'm glad he's finding a way to survive in this league but even in a tanking year, he would've been behind boucher in the lineup.
posters need to stop obsessing over mid-level prospects.

Listen, I'll stop doing that the moment this team actually has any A-level prospects worth discussing, but let's not pretend people aren't seriously talking about extending someone like Agbaji for $15M/yr

Management brought him in. Nurse refused to play him and he wanted out. Why is everything about the management? They can't force feed an end of bench guy minutes if the coach wants nothing to do with him. And they're not going to hold guys hostage, so when he complained about the minutes, they let him go find some elsewhere.

Also, should we indulge ItsDanger''s delusions that we could have somehow got value for this guy by trading him? Only way to let him leave was to cut him.

It's a joke. Don't take everything so seriously. Sports is entertainment at the end of the day.

I was a big fan of his and thought he could carve out a career in this league. But the reality is many teams have passed on him and he’s only playing because the team he plays for wants to lose.

It’s similar to what happened last year with Banton. Remember that thread last year about how the FO screwed up by letting Banton go?

There’s a reason why Justin Champagnie signed for that dollar figure.

Jonas has been killing it in Sacramento since he was traded at the deadline. He finally has a coach who appreciates him.

Last few games since Sabonis got hurt Jonas has put up:

9/17/7/1/1
15/12/6/1/2
19/13/6/2

he's evolved a lot since he left the Raps and is actually doing a good job as a point center.

Kawhi game winner on Kings last night. You can see DeMar in the background towards the end, he knew it was coming.

Demar and the Kings got royally screwed by the refs though. He was clearly fouled at the end and it was called, but the refs reviewed it and somehow overturned it. The type of really bogus call we know all too well.

Article on OG, the day before he just went 24/7/8 tonight vs Sacramento. With 5 steals and held Demar to 11 and guarded Lavine when DD sat.

I don't really see the "gotcha" here with Banton. He outproduces his $2M/yr salary by far, they were paying Malachi Flynn double that at one point. Specifically with Banton, I think it's been heavily implied that he wanted out of Toronto for non-basketball reasons to get away from distractions so it's not really a mistake by the FO.

I haven't followed my old favorite Jeff Dowtin much this year but I knew he's on the Sixers. I guess he's on a bit of a roll lately, scoring double figures in 5 of 6 last games including 20 vs Raps and 15 right now vs Indy still in first half. First start ever tonight. I know he's getting more minutes because they're injured and tanking but it's still nice to see him doing well.

I always found it annoying how people kept saying Jonas couldn’t pass while he was a raptor. I would consistently argue over and over again that it’s because whenever we did feed him the ball it was usually in an iso to score. Either that or he was a finisher in a pnr.

Just goes to show that system can make a difference for a player. Jonas never struck me as a selfish player and always seemed pretty skilled and had good iq.
