Paolo for…?
First of all … don’t trade Paolo. Rework everything else first to surround this awesome talent with a workable program.
No need to fill this with pages of reasons NOT TO TRADE HIM…there are plenty of other threads for that.
(For the knuckleheads that think fans on here daring to speculate will make Paolo want to leave (“just like we did with Shaq”). Stop…there are much bigger fundamental problems than us that will ultimately decide how this team/coaching staff/FO will look when the dust settles. Just a mental exercise, not a “Get Rid of Paolo” thread at all.
Also, be prepared to watch him become All-NBA in the right setting…and be happy for him.
But, for kicks…realistically, what WOULD you consider trading Paolo for?

I’m the knucklehead who brought that up so just say me and no not because he’ll want to leave but because our inept FO will trade him as a scapegoat for their ineptitude.
I’m just pointing out the ramifications to the geniuses who think trading him solves our glaring issue in some panic trade where we get to watch Paolo continue to excel somewhere else and we lose on the deal while watching an inept FO continue to evaluate.

Anfernee Simons, Deni Avdija and 2025 first round pick swap if Portland has a higher first round pick than us.

Re: Paolo for…?
This would be easier if he had a max contract. Because ideally that is the only quality of player of trading him for. But if we are going off of available first picks still with matching salaries I hear Wemby is injured and the Spurs could use some help....
Paolo for Wemby and call it good.

Re: Paolo for…?
History of first round picks 2000- 2018
2000- Kenyon Martin- traded after 4 years
2001-Kwame Brown - traded after 4 years
2002- Ming- spent whole career with Houston ( 7 years + 2 stealing money
)
2003- Lebron James- left after 7 years in FA
2004- Dwight- trade out after 8 years
2005- Bogut - traded after 7 years
2006- Bargnani- traded after 7 years
2007- Gred oden- retired within 3 years
2008-Rose - traded after 8 years
2009- Griffin, traded midway through 8th year
2010-John Wall - traded after 9 years ( didn't play serious BB post trade)
2011- Kyrie asked to be traded out after 6 years
2012- Davis- asked to be traded after 7 years
2013- Bennett-traded in second year
2014- Wiggins- traded on draft night ( traded again in 6th year)
2015- Towns, traded after 9 years
2016- Simmons -traded after 5(6???) years, didn't play 1# nor 6# season so count as you like
2017-Fultz- traded after 2 years
2018- Ayton-traded after 5 years
Not a single one of them played with team that drafted him longer than 9 years. That's why i hate whole "championship window" conversations, windows don't exist, your clock starts ticking in a moment you get a star(s).
Doing nothing mid season will hunt us, even going into 2025 summer we already lost "get better window" as now Suggs + Franz salaries will add up.
i'm not in trade Paolo camp, but as i said in trade thread, it will take serious effort to improve current roster. We simply have incredible amount of players who are situational, niche role players who are only good at one very specific thing and nothing else. More you watch / use them, more obvious other issues with them come to surface.
Goga for example. People were drooling over him months ago, now , more you watch him, more teams adopt to his playstyle, less valuable he looks. Isaac is golden standard for overvaluing role player for one very specific thing he does. For few possessions where he is best defender in nba, you pay him crazy money and teams figured he sucks on offense and treat him like Thybulle from outside.

I played the home game. 6.38 seasons. Cut Yao mings to 7, kept Bennet at 2, had Simmons at 6 (injury wasn't really factored in, so why start here.)

Re: Paolo for…?
ORL sends: Paolo, KCP, WCJ
HOU sends: Amen, Sengun, Jabari
ORL sends: Cole, Jett, DEN 25 frp
POR sends: Simons
HOU RE-ups FVV and accelerates to contention. IF we must consider trading Paolo - it must be far to the West.
Sengun, Goga, Moe
Jabari, Isaac
Franz, TdS
Suggs, Simons, Queen
Amen, AB
*lots of ball movers, much more shooting, still very long and maybe even improved defensively. Still maintaining valuable picks including our likely mid-first

I was the only who brought the Shaq thing up.

Does this make us better like contending wise? Or do we remain treadmill. Feels treadmilly. I get what you were trying to do though in context.

I just saw this as playing a game and really am not taking it seriously beyond games in my head.
I am having difficulty seeing that as Paolo ceiling right now. Could be that I am in the emotional depths of despair regarding the offense though.

He would’ve been an All-Star this season had he not gotten hurt (same as Franz).
Man posted a 50-point near triple-double and then got hurt the next game. That’s not a mirage.

I would be shocked if this happened.
