Happy birthday JT

Read on Twitter

Tatum is one of just three players in NBA history to record at least 13,000 points and 4,000 rebounds before their 27th birthday, alongside LeBron James and Wilt Chamberlain.

Tatum and James are the only two players with 13K pts, 4K rebounds and 2K+ assists before turning 27.

And on Friday, Tatum surpassed Chamberlain for sixth on the league's all-time under-27 scoring list.

The eight-year veteran also owns the NBA record for most made 3-pointers before turning 27 (1,502) and ranks in the top five all-time in points, 3-pointers, games played and wins in the postseason before age 27.

That's nice of the NBA account to come up with that tweet. The respect is not loud enough. People getting paid to talk about the game should be promoting this dude more and celebrating his accomplishments at his age instead of tearing him down and doubting him at every turn.

Okay, wait, I know, he lacks "aura."

For people saying Tatum is only about counting stats and that his counting stats are high only because he's played in a lot of games...

(1) Playing in a ton of games is a huge positive in today's load management era.
(2) He's been a net positive every season of his career.

In the PBP era (since 1996-97), here are the top 5 players in +/- per game before turning 27, minimum 400 games played:
• Tim Duncan: +6.84
• Klay Thompson: +6.2
• Jayson Tatum: +6.17
• Kawhi Leonard: +5.92
• Dirk Nowitzki: +5.34

Only three players had more playoff wins before turning 27 -- Kobe, Tony Parker, Magic Johnson.

same Q
Is that what this ad with three pairs of sneakers is telling us?
I wasn't ready for Deuce to be the medium sneakers, but congrats to JT if the family is growing! (also holy hell does he keep his personal life personal if we have no inkling of this:)

18 games to go and they'd probably rest Tatum in a couple of games, but he's currently leading the team in POINTS, REBOUNDS, ASSISTS, STEALS, FTs MADE, and 3-POINTERS MADE.

His 27/8/5 season has only been done by 2 other Celtics players in franchise history -- Havlicek (2x) and Bird (3x).

No disrespect to Cowherd, but he's an idiot.

I already put JT in the Dirk trajectory if he chooses to spend all/most of his career with the Cs. And if he stays healthy (and win another title or two), he can be more.

The shoe argument  :noway:

“He doesn’t have his own brand!” I don’t think he realizes Nike makes all the player shoes.. they’re literally on the JT 3 now or whatever. The only
Guy to actually get is own brand is Jordan.

Jayson Tatum has the 2nd best career +/- among players with 500+ games played in NBA history...

^ I mentioned this list in a GB thread about Duncan and didn't even say the word Tatum in my post, but of course got quoted and told it means nothing aside from Tatum has been on great teams his whole career.

Thing is, JT is one of the few players on the list without having current/former teammates there too. Duncan/Kawhi/Manu, Steph and Draymond, Stockton and Malone etc etc.

It sucks that JT has been the primary reason for our team being so good but people love dismissing that and saying the opposite.

Side note: I liked seeing all the bland, boring, aura-less guys at the top haha.

Yes Tatum has been lucky to be carried his entire career. I mean anybody can get to the conference finals with Brad Wanamaker and rookie Grant Williams as the first two guys off the bench and Daniel Theis as the only legit big man on the roster. Now imagine if he had been stuck with Paul George, Tyrese Maxey, James Harden, Ben Simmons, Jimmy Butler, Al Horford, etc. instead. No way he would win playoff series right
