I am all for Trae, I think he impacts the offense in so many ways, we might find out we cant't do Trae and Herro on defense and have to make changes later...but at Trae' age there is time to figure all that out.

Don’t see us making a trade with the Hornets for
a while after the Rozier debacle. It’s also in the Hornets best interest for us to suck with that 2027 pick or possible 2028 unprotected

Remain steadfast that Trae Young can work here and can be made into a hyper efficient PG under Spo. With a front court of Ware and Bam you can be fine with a backcourt of Herro and Young. The guys you bring in off the bench can be the hardcore defensive guys like Mitchell, HH, and Pelle. Young and Herro can also be staggered to allow a prime optimal backcourt scorer to be on the floor at all times to help over come droughts.

He will be 1st in rebounds and 2nd in points by next season. Possibly 3rd in assists at the end of this season.

Trae would add sooo much. How many off balance shots do we have to take due to running congested dribble hand offs, or off target passes. If we could even replace half of them with steady accurate passes to get people right into the shooting motion things would look so much better.

Heck, you could even argue that starting Herro and Trae early, and only later in a game to cycle in an on ball defender would be more disruptive then starting with heavy on ball defense and letting a team adapt and get in the grove earlier in the game. Rarely do teams go right into trying to abuse Herro ( or Robinson for that matter...its coming...but seldom off the opening tip off)

Almost like a change of pace back in football. pound for a while, then bring in a hyper quick scat back and give the team something new to think about.

A combo of Herro-Trae-Mitchell and even Dru could cause substitution chaos on other teams when it comes to minute management and subs.

Plus the truth is...only one of these dudes can be abused at a time...does it really matter if they beat Herro or Trae...of course with our current luck...they are going right at our "defenders" with ease after what just happened to Mitchell and Highsmith....sigh....

How are we getting Young again if you have both Tyler & Bam still on the Heat? He's still under contract next season, so has to be a trade. So what are we sending to ATL? JJJ, Niko and our palty draft assets can't be it.

You can send Wiggins/Duncan/Slow mo. We have the contracts to make it work.

Is it worth it to give up Niko + JJJ + Picks for a tiny PG that is having his worst scoring season?

IDN. I don't like Tray Young's game honestly. But this roster is just desperate for a real offensive engine.

Would you rather use similar packages for Kevin Durant? A lot more mileage on Durant and young is pretty good

I would take whatever assets we have and throw them at Charlotte for Ball. He is pretty good as it is, but that kid is not being Coached or pushed in any capacity. He can score the ball and is long and athletic enough to be a force on defense if demanded to be. I think a guy like Lamelo would thrive in a situation like Miami, he is only the way he is because he is allowed to be. Miami could push him really hard, and Lavar and family would be all for it. Whatever complaints people have about his play or disposition would be easily correctable with some Heat culture.

Ball and Herro in the backcourt would be extremely fun to watch

I am out of the loop, do we have a reason to think he is available?

Duncan and Rozier give the Hawks salary relief while we provide them with young cheap assets starting with JJJ and go into pick compensation from there but i doubt there will be a big market for Young due to contract.

Terry Rozier 2023 stats with Charlotte (30 games): 23.2 ppg (53.5% efg); 6.6 apg (2.2 topg), 4 rpg

Lamelo Ball 2023 stats with Charlotte (22 games): 23.9 ppg (50% efg); 8 apg (3.8 topg); 5 rpg

I move to not fall for the volume inefficient scorer on a terrible team trap again. Lamelo has played in less than 59% of the games since being drafted by Charlotte, including less than 40% since the start of the 2022-2023 season.

Hornets would probably want to trade us Lamelo Ball to serve their interest of us sucking in 2027-2028.

I wonder if Rozier is an outlier or an indicator.

It is not really normal to see Miami pick up a guy and have him do worse than he did before. I get what happened with Bosh, that we can reasonably explain, and we could at least point towards growth in some areas while he was here....but I can't think of many dudes who fell off a cliff when they got here without injuries playing a major role like Bosh and Dipo.

Do I have selective memory? Am I missing someone? I could be, I can be a head in the sand kinda guy.

Anyway...I would like a crack at Miami developing LaMelo, but I just don't think sinking rare (for Miami) assets into chasing an often injured player is the smart move.

I could see how people would like Melo over Trae...but Trae is probably the safer investment.

The Terry experience has been anomalous in a lot of ways.

I see the talent with Lamelo and obviously think he'd fare much better in Miami than Terry has. But, the injury concern is a massive red flag. As is the fact that he has always been a shockingly inefficient scorer (despite his size) dating back at least to his time playing in Australia.

More sizzle than steak IMO
