You don't know her as a person

How did I know this lazy response was coming? From what I know about her as a person, I can't stand her. Happy?

What exactly do you know about her ?

Do all you Drake stans think the world revolves around him or something? She got a chance to be part owner of a franchise for a league that is starting to gain a lot of traction and your first thought is about Drake  Go touch some grass.

Meh. I doubt a tennis player will do much for recruitment, even if she's an icon of the POC women athlete's HOF. Likely she just saw the WNBA booming and saw the investment opportunity as somewhere to park her cash.

I don't see much of a negative here, her stake is probably small so she won't have much say either way.

Serena isn't just a tennis player, she's a cultural icon. It's akin to calling Jay Z just a rapper, when he's a mogul.

She's literally the GOAT female tennis player and was one of the most popular athletes, female or male, in the US over the last 20 years. Having her on board is absolutely huge.

It could be like a Tom Brady thing where he owns 1% of the Soccer team Birmingham City and it’s mostly for marketing reasons.

Except Serena has way more cultural relevance in North America than Tom Brady will ever have in the UK or Europe for that matter.

Brady has a minor stake in the Raiders and it may or may not ever mean much

I'm not speaking for Boyznthehood but tennis is a sport that gives viewers a look at their on court demeanor and personality much more than say hockey or football.

Meh. I get that she's a superstar who trascends sports. But does anyone really care who the minority part owner of a team is? Like, in what situation does having Serena as a minor owner affect the on-court product (or heck, off-court recruitment)? I don't see it. Is a WNBA player going to sign so they can be within arm's length of her aura?

Greatest female athlete of all time promoting a new women's team. Even bigger win for the WNBA than it is for TO. I like it.
