The Mitchell Report thread

Post#1 » by Lconte17 » Thu Dec 13, 2007 3:32 pm

Well so far ive read numerous articles that claim several Yankees will be listed in the report.

So far on Mike and Mike the reporting Roger Clemens is going to be listed. I can also assume Jason Giambi, Former Yankee Gary Sheffield will also be listed. but that doesnt cover the definition of "several" i think that report is gonna have atleast 2 more players listed from the yankees.

Im wondering how many ALL STARS, MVPs, CY YOUNG's, ROY, and HOF are gonna be listed on this report.

UPDATE-New York Daily News reports Andy Pettitte is also in the report. they havent clarified if its the same info grimsley gave them last year or not

im not big on this report

its no secret that guys like clemens, tejada, sheff, etc were/are/still/was on the roids/hgh

unless this report names guys like Jeter, Beltran, Wright, Mariano its nothing more than a big show...

All this proves is that Jose Canseco was the only guy with the nuts to come out and say those things about the 10 players or so that he named. Albeit he did it for money he wasn't lying.

Mark Prior AND Kerry Wood? That would be surprising to me, usually it's guys later in their career.

ALSO: ALBERT PUHOLS! That is huge news if it is true.

I wouldn't look at any list as final until the press conference at 2. The list going around now has already been altered at least once, I guess.

And I know this'll fire up some peoples' opinions about players, but try to keep the talk in here, guys. Let's not have 15 threads of "I CAN'T BELIEVE (insert random Yankee) IS JUICING!!!"

What a farce this report was. No names that weren't really out there, not for anyone notable anyway. Clemens and Pettitte have no paper trail so it is just what MacNamee(sp?) said. I also find it curious that there are no notable Red Sox players on the list aside from Eric Gagne. Mitchell sits on the board of the Red Sox. How shocking that the Yankees are thrown under the bus here. -Jitpal

Apparently HGH was Petite's saviour and not Jesus

Pettite should have retired when he had the chance. Now he will be the main person on the Yankees this year fielding steroid questions.

yah im kind of surprised just how much of the report was dedicated to these two yankees. but then again what a perfect change to tarnish the yankees WS from 96-00

well only clemens would tarnish that but that would only be for 99-00 because he didnt get there until then and im pretty sure it said pettitte didnt start hgh until like 01 when his elbow was acting up

also theres no proof of these two actually taking this stuff, just heresay

i dont understand the point of this report

especially if mitchell is recommending to not punish these offenders, if no punishment, then why name them in the first place?

The point of the report wasn't to name the offenders, it was to put out a comprehensive history and analysis of the apparent "steroid era"--whether or not Mitchell did that is debatable since he had a hard time even talking to people. He did feel it was best to name the offenders he found in the context of the report, but I think his argument at the press conference was that steroid use was so widespread and entrenched more in the past than the present that Selig should give the players a "fresh start" instead of letting the witch hunt continue.

but thats my point, by naming these names, he is letting the witch hunt continue....if all he had was hearsay on players like clemens, if i was clemens, id take them to court and sue them for slander

The whole thing is ridiculous. If a player is using illegal substances, call the police. If the substances are legal or if the player can get a prescription, let them take what they want. If they all ruin their lives, that's their choice. If they become demented from using too much, lock them up.

I just turn off the TV (or radio) whevenver anyone starts discussing steroids. This is a publicity stunt, just like the "war on drugs" which has cost around 50 billion and was irretrievably lost years ago. Just legalize the relatively benign drugs (like marijuana) and be done with it. Do the same thing with steroids. Who cares?
