I know it won't make Mavs fans feel any better but IMO this Kyrie injury would completely derail them even if Luka wasn't traded. With Kyrie out this year and possibly all of next year too, the Mavs aren't making any noise in the playoffs. What are the odds that Luka would even re-sign in 2026? I'd say slim to none. We also don't know this publicly but I'm pretty close to 100% sure that Luka was traded in the first place because he told the organization that he's leaving next year and they wanted to get something for him.

Dallas Mavericks raising ticket prices, and now won't see Kyrie for a year.

When it rains it pours, now its raining ****.

I just have a weird feeling that they're going to make a run at Durant and turn into the 2013 Nets.

Man this sucks... For him and the fans.

It's annoying reading you posters act like you're not surprised with the injury - like NO you could not predict he was going to suffer a serious injury like a torn ACL.

If Davis comes back that becomes impossible

There's 5 weeks left in the season, I'd be shocked if they bring AD back. They're better off letting Phoenix or Portland take a play in spot.

Sucks for Kyrie and Mavs fans. Literally don't see any reason to watch Mavs games live right now.

No more Luka, AD is hurt, no Kyrie. Increasing ticket prices too.

No way Luka would leave the mavs because of the supermax contract.....Even Giannis stay with the bucks because of the supermax contract in 2020

The supermax contract is like 110 millions more that a normal max contact if he was to leave Dallas from free agency. No way it would happens....

Ambrose wrote:Feel for him. He seemed happy and his rep was being built back up. I don't know if he comes back the same guy at 33-34 off an ACL with his injury history.

For the Mavericks...year 1 of your 2 year window has closed.

I think their entire window is closed brother. Kyrie is 33. An ACL tear recovery for a herky-jerky guard like him will take him a full year minimum. Even if he were to recover 100% and return back to form, he won't be back until late March-April next year, which would leave the Mavericks with no time to have him build chemistry with AD before a playoff run.

This Luka trade will be studied for generations for how disastrous it has become.

We don't know for sure but I think he would leave. He already has a lot of money plus he can make a **** of money from endorsements in LA anyways.

Giannis stayed because the Bucks were a contender. The current Mavs especially given this Kyrie Injury are just not. Different situations.

Damn and I was already starting to like Kyrie again...he was acting like a true professional finally.

Luka must feel like he dodged a bullet to be honest, lol...would suck carrying this Dallas team without Kyrie for the next 9-10 months.

Sucks for Dallas fans, this must be one of the worst months ever experienced by a sports franchise...trading away their best player and generational superstar for scraps, their new all-star getting hurt on game 1 and their top scorer tearing his ACL...Jesus...

I just don't see how the owners can continue to own the team. The PR that they have to be dealing with feels insurmountable.

Money is not everything but when this is 110 millions, this is a major difference. No player who could have the super max leave their team from free agency in this decade

I feel for Mavs fans. This entire ordeal is giving ‘curse of the Bambino’ vibes.
