They sag off the bad shooters, and Curry might have been missed on 2 passes total for the game. If you watched the game you'd see Steph blanketed almost the entire time. We lack a strong shooting guard, Podz is more of a backup/energy type guy. It's a roster flaw that teams are able to sag off Green and Podz, but sure keep blaming Steve for everything. I'm sure you complained all 2022 as well.
When the role players hit their shots, I notice you don't complain about Steve. Some nights these guys will hit their shots, some nights they won't. I don't see you complaining about Buddy shooting, because he had a good night. And whining about motion while at the same time saying Green finds Curry is hilarious, because he's using the motion offense to get Steph open.
The bottom line is this team will be as good as the non-shooters are on offense. There's no magical set of plays to make teams sag off of Steph and guard Podz/Green tight. Podz and Green will have to hit some shots for us to succeed, which is an unfortunate roster position to be in.
Apparently, in your eyes, Steve Kerr is the best coach in basketball. He never does anything wrong, right? I'm just not sure how you or any objective person can look at the coaching job Kerr has done the last few years and say he's done a good job. The Warriors have blown more leads than ANY other team in basketball. It's truly staggering. His small ball fetish, playing 3 and 4 guard lineups, is a joke around the league. Telling the FO to NOT get a center and forcing and old Draymond Green with back problems to start at the 5 and play heavy minutes is yet another example of Kerr's stupidity.
We all know this roster has many holes. Getting Jimmy has helped. But Kerr's thought process is the biggest problem the Warriors have. I'm not going to go through it all. Those of us who've followed it know all too well the truth. Kerr hates Curry on the ball; he hates pick-n-roll; he hates size; he want to play and "win" his way. He's not adaptable. He's terrible at developing young players.
He's let Draymond Green destroy the locker room without any consequences.
Sure, 4 titles is something. But never has a coach done less to get so much credit as this guy. As Iggy has pointed out several times (including recently at his jersey retirement ceremony), none of this happens without Steph Curry. No titles. Nothing. And Kerr likely would have been fired sooner than Mark Jackson was.
So yes, I, and many others will continue to "whine," about how he's coaching. He's actually been the worst coach in the league the last few seasons, as he continues to tweak and play the smallest lineup in the league.
But sure, live in your world and tell yourself Kerr is an amazing coach who always makes the right move at the right time. In fantasy, no one can hurt you, right?
