Has Kyrie played his last game as a Mav?

Post#1 » by Marvin Martian » Tue Mar 4, 2025 4:51 pm

After suffering a torn ACL, he will miss the rest of the season as well as all of next season as well...just in time for him to be an UFA.

I don't think he resigns with DAL. The vibes are just terrible right now

Is he going to actually miss all of next season?

Gotta wait a couple weeks...

Gotta wait for Nico to give his fitness evaluation. If Nico thinks he's fat, and doesn't improve their defense... this might just be his last game as a Maverick.

I don't think he was ever re-signing w/ the Mavs cuz of his political conflict w/ the owner. But getting injured doesn't decrease the chances. If anything it could increase them because maybe they just pay him so much more. Don't know it'd matter still.

Jamal Murray suffered a similar injury around the same time and missed the following season.

Theoretically, he could come back but the Mavs will not want to rush a 32 year old guard back from a devastating knee injury

Where does he go? Nets ? who else has cap space and a spot for a 33 year old coming of this injury. Sign MLE with the Lakers?

I hope for sake of NBA that he leaves, but sadly that would have to be sign and trade and im not sure Mavs would do that. But who knows, they traded generational talent for lesser, older and injury prone talent, so anything can happen.

Sounds like a perfect candidate for the Clippers :(

I really liked Dallas Kyrie, he became one of my favourite players in the league. What a shame, we only got one season and one playoff run of LuKai together, a run that took them all the way to the finals. I still can't believe Nico split up that tandem. If Kyrie leaves I hope it's to the Lakers.

Agreed.

I couldn't stand Kyrie as a Cav, Celtic and Net. He was insufferable every time he opened his mouth.

Dallas Kyrie who we just need to watch play basketball...dude is a lot of fun to watch.

ACL is normally 9-12 month recovery. Since he’s older, I think it’s reasonable to suggest he misses most of next season if not all the season depending on his recovery

Nah, he has a player option to exercise. It is an opportunity for Nico to present something stretched out at something significantly lower than $43m/yr so they can get some cap flexibility and Kyrie can remove uncertainty and focus on his recovery. Caveat, is that some team may want to S&T a similar contract, but can't see anybody taking it on as it sits today.

I'm no doctor, but I have a difficult time seeing that he'll be out past this time next year. Even less if he's down with stem cell treatment.

If he comes back after all star break, which happens a lot.... It would basically be a year. He'd be a UFA unless Dallas or someone assures he'll be paid if he opts out this summer. He'd be wise to use that last stretch of the season to showcase himself

I expected him to turn down the player option before the injury, but now he probably stays. He'll come back late next season & try to show that he can still hoop. He's defense not re-signing with the Mavs though.

He opts in and the Mavs try to find a taker for him at the trade deadline next year who might want to sign him to an extension.

No chance that Kyrie doesn't opt in to his player's option now. A complete no-brainer.

He probably has. If I was his agent I would advise him to take the player option and then demand a trade out. Unless he just misses all of next season and then go where he wants

Torn ACL recovery time is usually around 8-10 months...so he should be back between December and February of next year.
