Re: Luka AD trade thread Part II
3 and D guy gets worse without stars shocker. He's a two way player who can take the other team's best player, catch and shoot and make corner 3s. His value is defence, roleplayer scoring, availability and playing beside stars not being asked to create.
He doesn't make the decision to trade Luka look better but he's not supposed to.

Re: Luka AD trade thread Part II
These are still consequences from the Luka+Grimes trades. How Nico screwed up this team in just a week is absolutely ultra legendary.
[Smith] Moses Brown's 10-day contract with the Dallas Mavericks has expired. The Mavericks do not have enough room under their first-apron hard cap to sign Brown to a second 10-day contract. Dallas also can't sign another player until April 10, under their current restrictions.

Re: Luka AD trade thread Part II
Should the Mavs think about trading AD in the off season? I'm not sure how long Kyrie will be out or if he can get back to 100%.

I'll always maintain the Klay signing was the snowball that got everything rolling. They went above their means and seemed to only just realise the full implications months later.

Re: Luka AD trade thread Part II
This was one of the worst trades in NBA history the minute it happened.
We'll see where it ends up in the rankings of infamy. The Joe Billy Carroll trade, the Billy King trade, Dirk for Tractor Traylor are among the strongest candidates considering they had championship implications.
But this certainly was the most inexcusable.
Not only was it incompetent. It was aggressively idiotic and insensitive.

If Nico is still there? No. Because of pride and ego.

If I were one of Nico’s kids I’d be looking to put myself up for adoption because someone who makes decisions like this probably isn’t stable enough to be a good parent. Like for real this trade was really one of those decisions that’s so bad that I’d have to question his ability to function even outside of his job lol

Don't forget the Gail Goodrich trade for 3 first round picks, of which the 1979 one turned into Magic Johnson.
One of the picks that they traded, the 1977 pick, was returned to them because they decided not to take Moses Malone in the ABA dispersal draft.
So yeah, the New Orleans Jazz could've had both Moses and Magic, both 12 time all stars and 3 time MVPs each

I think they should. I mean they can rebuild and maybe one day draft a GOAT potential player if they’re lucky!
I’m kidding, but it really shows how big of a mistake this all was. I don’t think they can trade AD as they have to save some face here. If they trade AD, they’re just back to square one looking for a player in the draft that they already had locked up in Luka

I don't think they'll actually trade AD, but right now it seems like the right choice. If they keep him they can't tank next year (or if they do he's a year older). On top of that will Kyrie get back to being the same player he used to be? Doubtful at his age.
Tank the rest of the season, get the best pick they can in the draft and trade AD in the off season for picks/young players (would Houston be interested?).

Yeah I kind of agree but it’s just tough to admit defeat and tank. You went from having a 25 year old mega star, coming off a finals appearance, to a tank/rebuild maybe. I think they keep AD and retool. I don’t think a tank is on the table for them right now, it’s too drastic

I agree with you, but think that in the end it'll just waste a few years (for the Mavs and their fans).

The Lakers still have a big hole with interior defense that could be their downfall in the playoffs.

The should try to trade AD for a young 25 year old star player if they can

I wonder what will be the reason for Mavs fans to still go and watch their home games live now

Seriously, didnt know Luka was this good. The passes and the slow down is insane.
Man to man defense is an issue but he plays enough defense to keep things respective and is big enough to get in the passing lanes.
