Thunder/Nets Cam/Topic +

Post#1 » by Astaluego » Wed Mar 5, 2025 8:11 am

THUNDER
In:C.Johnson/FRP Knicks (Now 25)
Out:Topic/Dieng/K.Williams/FRP Heat(Now 16)

The basis of the trade and the value the Thunder give is Topic + the pick swap...the rest is filler..I'm not sure I'd rather send I.Joe instead of the Expirers.. Thunder get a good sized winger, who is an elite shooter and would fit like a glove

NETS
In:Topic/Dieng/KWilliams/FRP Heat
Out: Johnson/FRP Knicks

They improve their selection and get a high-potential prospect...who they can give all the minutes and reps he needs to develop.

Value by itself is good from Thunder side . I think nets will believe they can get more . Not sure if it’s out there but they can try and hope. If no better offer I guess they will be fine keeping him (see who they get with their cap space)

OKC wise , see when/if we fall short this playoff , find the gap and fill up that gap . Cam probably does fits the scoring gap.. and he’s also a big which helps .

I think this would have been a deal that would have happened at the deadline if both parties are interested. I don't think getting up to the mid to late teens in this draft would be worth it for the Nets, as they could probably get there just via a trade up. The Nets would really need to like Topic to make this deal.

Now that Miami pick is lottery protected this year & unprotected next year. If Miami falters in the play-in & has that pick protected this year, then this deal would be much more appealing. I think one of OKC's '26 picks (Philly or Miami if one rolls over or LAC's) would have far more appeal to the Nets than a '25 pick.

Total side not, has anyone started calling Nikola "Topic Thunder" yet? I want that to be his nickname.

good concept...Cam's not taking BRK anywhere for a while and OKC can certainly spare Topic for immediate air superiority. OKC looks so good and so young that watching Topic succeed from afar won't phase them. Classic timeline trade...shocking how young OKC is to be in this position.

I think Cam's overrated but, obviously, has great value...Topic's very intriguing and BRK needs something to hope for more than a pretty good guy having a career year.
