D'Angelo Russell Would Like To Stay With Nets

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Mar 5, 2025 1:54 pm

D'Angelo Russell has enjoyed his return to the Brooklyn Nets. Russell is said to be relishing having the ball in his hands again, while having a leadership role with a young team. The veteran guard reportedly would like to stay in Brooklyn after this season.

Russell was acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers in part because he's on an expiring contract. The Nets project to have a league-high $50-plus million in cap space this offseason. In the past, Sean Marks has used cap space to play in restricted free agency.

Russell is now hoping to stay with the Nets on a new contract. If Brooklyn were to re-sign Russell to a short-term deal, that could signal how they plan to let this offseason play out, by largely rolling over their cap space to the summer of 2026.

Dennis underperformed went to other teams and underperformed then was ok on a mostly bad team and then played terrible with Steph too. So to sum up Dennis was in the league for years after leaving the lakers and he also went back to the lakers after leaving at one point.. so I dunno what this is about. Lakers made a choice not to use the mid level on Dennis and another team did..

Can you blame the guy? He's probably tired of getting kicked around the league so much.

That also happened on his first stint with the lakers.. That was a crazy amount to turn down and he didn't perform well so I believe he got like a veteran minimum with the celtics after that or it could of been a partial mid level exception like 5mil something along those lines.. Fact is Dennis cost himself nothing to do with LeBron.. Or Steph for that matter..

I look at it as the 80 million wasnt worth the future scapegoating by the espn/klutch media, also doesnt help that the taxes in california are brutal> Which is why im not so sure luka will stay in los angeles long term, especially if lebron is on the team this summer.

the coach bobby hurley turned down MONSTER money just to say no to the lakers this past offszn, after people and coaches convinced him that the lakers job is not a hot commodity right now as long as lebron is there

I'm not entirely convinced that Russell will be in the NBA after his contract expires.

That's extreme..Orlando, Miami, Phoenix just to name a few could use him right now and next year.
