Chase Young was really good last year and is youngish. He's not going to settle for a prove it deal. The only reason he is even hitting free agency is because the Saints cap situation is so awful

Maybe McKinney lite. I don't think anyone in this Free agent class would be as much of a home run as Mckinney was

Packers can move on from Mcduffie after this season with a minimal dead cap hit if they want to

Wouldn't mind this at all. Whoever can generate pressure, bring them on board.

I feel the similar way about him, Ojulari, and Koonce. All on bad teams and underused. The fact they have the sack numbers they do when their teams were all trailing most of the season is impressive.

There were so many pass rushers in that 2021 draft that I loved in Rousseau, Ojulari, Owusu-Koramoah, Koonce, and Dayo. Didn't hate the Stokes pick, but if we really wanted a corner then that was the year to trade up in the draft for Horn or Surtain. I would not hate if we did a Preston/Zadarius type of free agent move and signed two of the edge rushers if possible.

Anyone who can generate pressure is a welcome add and he's a younger guy so I totally buy that Gute is interested in him but I'm also hoping to add more of a pure edge guy than just another bigger end type. We need a guy that can just get after the QB

I think a question we don't yet know the answer to is what kind of pass rusher Jeff Hafley prefers. All the edge guys we had last year were brought in Pre-Hafley

I would also love two edge rushers. Then keep Jaire and hope for a contract year dynamic, since he's pretty much a slam dunk to be released next year the way things are going, if he's not released this year that is.

WR, I don't even know. But I'm still optimistic about Musgrave being able to stretch the field, and I want Love and the offense to focus more on the short passing game and creative run plays anyway, so I'm fine with a rotating cast of average WRs behind Reed.
Wut we've got here is... faaailure... to communakate.

That's Azeez Ojulari. If we can sign both then Dayo would be the Preston type and Azeez would be the Zadarius/KGB type. Of course than means they would have to admit LVN is a failed experiment, but I think that's coming either way.

Is 5 1/2 sacks in a full season really good? We don’t need another guy that almost gets to the quarterback.

He signed a one year prove it deal, got 7.5 sacks. I don't even care about the numbers, it's the fact that on running downs he gives up and most plays he gives no effort. Those 7.5 sacks would be great if he wasn't just getting by the rest of the season on his Ohio State reputation. Chase Young has been a slacker most of his career and only played 28 games in four seasons before last year (missing 32 games). If we sign him, it better be at a deep discount.

Pressures are much more predictive of future success than raw sack numbers and Chase young had one of the highest pressure rates in the NFL last season

I get that, problem is if he isn't getting pressure or the oline gets the best of him Chase gives up.

While it's true Chase Young is a negative run defender, I think there's a good case to be made he's the best pass rusher on the market and he's still fairly young. And last year wasn't an aberration for that either, he had a very good 2023 as well

If Young has really fully recovered from the injuries, then you're not gonna find a better pure pass-rusher on the market. Problem is, that's basically all that he's been the last two seasons, a situational pass-rusher that only plays 50-60% of defensive snaps. We already have a growing problem with Gary being a part-time guy. We don't need our top two Edge rushers with the same issues.
