Re: Bulls vs Cavs 7pm CT Mar. 4 2025
For whatever reason the Cavs sleepwalked through 3 quarters before deciding to win the game. The championship Bulls would dot he same thing every now and then.
It was probably a case of CLE seeing the Bulls with Williams and Ayo already out, Vuc, Giddey, Huerter being out and they had no fear of Terry starting so they coasted. That's a playoff mistake they can't afford to make.
As for the Bulls, some guys had the chance to shine and weren't up to it. I like having THT on the roster. Last night he knew scoring was going to be an issue so he didn't ask for permission, he just went to work and got baskets. He normally doesn't do that if he's in the regular rotation he gets that everybody else can score. Carter is kind of the same way but he would be more effective as a catch and shoot guy with 3 better players on the floor with him, not when he's the #2 or 3 guy.
It was a game they expected to lose. doubly so with the day to day injuries, so it would advance the draft cause, and that's how it ended up. Learning minutes for Matas and Phillips be happy and move on

Why would we want that?

Realistically, they are locked into the 8th slot. Even if they go 3-17 the rest of the way, I don't envision Phili, Toronto or Brooklyn winning 7+ more games for us to drop beneath them.
Plus, I bet the Bulls o27.5 wins.

The Raps also have the easiest schedule remaining too.
C'mon Raps, you know you want the final play-in spot!
They don’t. Apparently no one does, half the league is tanking.
Yep. That is what the NBA is all about any more. And the play-ins just made it worse. It had gotten to the point where the approach was "if you're not top 8, tank". Now, it's "if you're not top 6, tank". It really is ruining the sport.

Honestly, I think we're the only Top 10 seed in either Conference that is tanking. Although now Dallas (the West's #10 seed) is a tank team. Even if it wants to win, it can't.

Ironically, I think the whole idea of the play-in was to motivate teams not to tank.
I think the bigger problem how hard it is for teams to become contenders. I do think the apron rules help, but more needs to be done. Maybe playoff teams should be excluded from the first round of the draft all together?

But this isn't true. Maybe SA is not trying to win, now that Wemby is out but 13 of the 15 teams out West are trying to win
In the East the top 9 are all trying to win, plus kind of Chicago
Utah/NO (injuries clearly destroyed their year or they'd be trying to win) out West
Char/Wash/Tor/Brk in the East
Sixers just had bad luck/suck
So it's not nearly as bad as you think

The Bulls will finish at 10th just because teams like Sixers,Nets and Raptors gave up on the season much before them and no matter how bad rotations Billy plays we'll still finish ahead these teams at the end of the day.
Having said that I prefer a watchable, fun that'll fight for the win every game even losing.
It's what we got for now.

our draft position has improved significantly since the turn of the calendar year . We're not better yet but the first domino is falling .SfBull wrote:DuckIII wrote:SfBull wrote:Let's move on and win the Magic tomorrow.

Losses won't improve us, with the 8th pick we'll get another Coby at best, good but not great.
Not ecstatic about our chances in the lottery.

Our draft position won't move because lower teams are tanking harder . We're stacked at 8th so my take is let's enjoy the rest of the regular season, let's develop the youngs and play hard every single game.

Yeah I don’t get how the NBA which is the best basketball league in the world is fine with letting teams lose on purpose. How is that good for the sport in any way ? Is Silver ok with all these tanking teams leaving their players out all the time for no reason at all?
We have fans rooting against their own teams, it’s ridiculous lol.The system needs to change. Draft picks and teams win-loss records should not go together.

And how does winning help the team? Winning moves them further up the lottery board with teams like the Spurs and Atlanta looming nearby.
I expect them to obviously win some games, you can't lose them all, but trying to beat teams like the Magic is pointless.

Wins won't move us up either as upper teams will keep winning.
Rooting for wins won't hurt us.
