How do you personally judge how someone played in a game?

If their stats had an impact on winning the game. Jokic chocked down the stretch. As the leader and MVP of the Nuggets he was unable to stop the largest game 7 comeback in NBA history.

Ok how do you measure if someone’s stats had an impact on winning the game?

By watching the game. Seeing when and how the accrued their stats.

Nuggets were up by 20 in the third with HCA. They let the lead slip away. They go back and fourth in the 4th Q with Jokic hitting some shots to keep it close. At the 5 minute mark when the game is close he dissapers. Misses two HUGE defensive rebounds (both scores by MIN). Gets blown by on defense by Reid. Gets blocked on offensive rebound outback attempt and has no impact in securing the game for his team. He chocked. 4 points in the last two minutes which were free throws and a meaniless hook shot. Naz had 4 points and Gobert scored on him too. That's how I judge his impact on winning when it was time to win.

Would your opinion of Jokic's performance be higher if he missed those two defensive rebounds (that resulted in putbacks) in the first quarter instead of the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter?

I don't know any active player that could have done better with that dumpster fire of a roster Denver has. Maybe if Murray didn't play like Kwame Brown in the playoffs they would have won in 5 or 6 and Jokic wouldn't have been so fatigued.

It’s wild that SGA is .1 away from Jokic in estimated epm now, given how much better Joker has been historically

What are you talking about? Across the league that may be true like Joker being a step above SGA. In a team sense, you absolutely have to be the best player on your team.

I've seen plenty of finals MVP's not be the best player on their team. I'm not sure about regular season MVP'S but again my statement stands. You don't have to be the best player to be the most valuable. For example this year on the Houston Rockets, is there best player their most valuable player?

You’re posting in the season MVP thread.

Officiating equalizes in the post season.

In a few months we will find out if SGA is just another mvp, or if he is having the single greatest peak in the history of the nba despite being the second best player on the season

It would be higher if his overall stats led them to a win.

"Equalized calls" would be a dream for this team lmao

Seems disingenuous at this point to keep arguing for Jokic.

SGA got it.

I agree that SGA is going to win it barring a surprise. Both candidates have had ATG seasons and voters can’t go wrong picking either one

Jokic's whistle is as bad as ever, and his haters are as loud as ever.

SGA is the mvp having a lesser season individually...

What a coincidence that SGA's FTA has increased while Joker is getting even worse of a whistle now than a month ago.

WWE stuff. Will see what happens in the playoffs...

Jokic honestly gets hated on less than any star in the league
