Another highly efficient 40+ point game for SGA against a good team.

You realize okc has the league worst free throw differential right?

"Equalized calls" would be a dream for this team lmao

They get away with murder on the defensive end. They get plenty.

Nevermind the MVP.

SGA is now the best player in the world.

Basically depends on how much you weigh this season (where SGA and Jokic are very close) vs Jokic’s longer track record of ATG play

In one day, a player who has not won a single meaningful game or series in his career, is now comparible to peak MJ, and the best player in the world.

This isnt an mvp thread anymore.

Because they play playoff defense and are getting away with what would normally be called fouls on the perimeter during the regular season. That equalizes in the playoffs and has nothing to do with free throws.

I get why this may not make sense but an entirely different sport in the playoffs. SGA is the mvp but this goat peak / best player in the world stuff is way too premature. Theyre entirely green

Unless Jokic absolutely dominates that back to back next week, you can just about put a bow on this one.

Shai almost at 38% shooting from 3 now. Outside chance of a 50/40/90 season, if his shot from beyond the arc stays hot the rest of the season.

it's worse than this. the thunder rank 724 of 746 in free throw rate differential among all teams since the 2000-01 season and bottom 5% all time. they are extraordinarily disadvantaged at the free throw line. do they play physical defense? yes, they do. but they pay for it on both ends of the court and it's counterfactual to argue otherwise.

Yeah, as a huge Nuggets fan, give it to SGA. Scoring isn't all that matters, but holy crap, he's good at it. And he's doing enough everywhere else, and the team keeps winning, that I won't feel like Jokic will get robbed.

Now, let's get these two teams matched up in the Western Conference Finals. I want to see these two go at it.

Free throws are a small part of how games are officiated and its entirely different in the regular season. Its their perimeter defense, which doesn't translate to free throws, that is impacting them. They foul a lot and force the refs not to call. That's what happens in the playoffs.

But to suggest OKC is on the losing end of non equalizsd calls ia disingenuous at worst, or an oversimplification at best.

 You were saying Dylan Harper was the easy #1 pick after a couple weeks into the NCAA season. Stop being a prisoner of the moment.

SGA is the MVP, but Jokic is the best player in the world, and has been for several years. 100% of GM's will take Jokic. I think everyone can agree on that.

Or not, this is Real GM.

This same thread has people claiming SGA is as good as peak MJ, and that OKC is at an officiating disadvantage lol

i'm not really interested in your specious claims about how games are officiated. the fact is that the thunder are on the losing end of the free throw battle to an unheard of degree for a team as good as they are. gussy that up how ever you want with hand waving non-statements, it is what it is.
