Please be more aggressive, or go to the bench. Kthx.

Hey Josh's birthday is the day before mine. I always knew he was a kindred spirit

But yeah. The Mikal/Josh/OG experiment needs to end.

Yup. Brunson needs to realize these guys are holding him back, at this point.

I dunno. I think Mikal needs to be traded but I am gonna throw Tom under the bus here, because i feel like if you give an Atkinson or Reddick these three guys, they'd figure out how to maximize their talents in their rotation. He's holding this team back.

I think Tom needs to go. The offense is only good because of the top heavy talent and not scheme, and the perimeter defense should never be this bad with a Bridges and Anunoby defending the wings.

Issue is Tom. He's taken a step back from last year's Tom. Johnnie really was the Tom whisperer. I think Bridges is better than what we're seeing. I think he'll be better next year. This team has way too many talented offensive players to be stuck with ISO ball.

I'd fire Thibs first for the reasons you state, then explore trading Mikal after next year.

Unless some team is ignorant enough to trade a player who can actually create with the ball for him, which of course isn't happening.

Everyone on this roster should be expendable sans Brunson and OG:

KAT: Doesn't play the type of defense that wins championships
Bridges: Worst Knicks acquisition since Eddy Curry
Mitch: Can never be healthy
Hart: Is a turnover machine and is starting to decline because of Thibs

Tom is a problem. Running players into the ground in December? Playing a defensive system that doesn't fit your roster and refusing to change. Running a basically non existent freestyle offense that has been known to stagnate with nothing done to generate easy buckets. Short rotations. Overuse injuries and ridiculous minutes distribution. He gets regular season results and the players will run through a brick wall for him but, he leaves a lot to be desired as a championship level coach IMO. I don't see us winning a title with him but, anything is possible I guess.

It's the trades for stars that seem to be catering to them all of the time that gets me pissed. They always seem to get what they need whenever they need it. Lopsided trades that make no sense for the other team. Time after time.

Tom's defenses are almost always on the verge of breaking if a team spams threes, has a passing big or a stretch 5. You compound those 3 things with league wide threes being up over last season and we're 19th, which is where we were in 2022-23, we gave up a ton of looks from three that season and were bottom league defending it, Mitch played 59 games that year.

I was/still am skeptical about Mitch fixing our defensive problems. He could fix our depth/rotation issues but, the defense has been the same for 5 seasons. Drop/protect the paint at all costs. No alternatives. No adjustments. The numbers tell the story. Watching the games tells the story. The eye test and the stats all bare this out but, people still think it's the players fault. If the HC can't adjust to his roster then why is he here?

It will be the same thing with Mitch, but in a different way, the offense will falter (110.7 ORTG in last 3 games), and the defense will keep things close which will give Brunson a chance to win, which is the same thing we've done all season. Tom doesn't even use Mitch to spam screens with, he just has him in the dunkers spot for the majority of his possessions, which gives the opponents someone to park their center on near the rim. On defense, Tom still hasn't figured out that you can put your center on someone other than the opponent's center, that putting your rim protector on a stretch 5 or someone like Draymond is exactly what the other team wants.

That's what is baffling to me at this point---everything is pointing in the same direction but some fans still refuse to accept it.

To me all of Thibs' characteristics and stubborness have a very rational and simple explanation: The guy is close to 70 years old now. He is born in 1958, he got his first assistant job in 1989 with the Timberwolves. He has learned and coached the game in the 80/90s. and built his mental coaching habits during that time. He is still coaching the game (load management, short rotations, iso ball, leaving 3s open and protecting the paint) like this is the 90s or early 2000s. Literally, all his habits, strategies scream 90s/early 2000s.

His entire style is outdated and won't be successful on an elite level in this league anymore. He can't or is unwilling to adapt. I think he can't really---the changes are too vast for him. That's the only way he knows. We need a change. I hope the FO acts prudently and doesn't waste next season.
