Prime JJ Redick is probably a good comp for him. People may say Redick was just a shooter but he could play point guard actually.

They drafted Reed to be a 6th man?

Hope not.

Because Reed has star potential.

I mean we just saw how good he can be last night. That said he is not a starter on a contender. He could be a starter on many teams but is what he is. A really high level role player. A guy you don’t mind having in the floor and taking shots when it matters. I don’t think he ever makes an all star team or anything like that. But who knows. He could take another step. Really good work ethic. .
FWIW he is ranked 26th in both LEBRON WAR and EPM Wins.

He is putting up a .651 TS%. Steph did that or better 4 times in his career, the first time at age 27.

Wait so Curry, an all time great, is better than Payton?

Wow!

My point was that Payton is a really good shooter.
Apologies for not making that clear.

I get that small sample sizes don't mean much, but all the signs are there when I watch (almost every game) that he is so much better than be given credit for. Time will tell if he ever gets on another team.

I really enjoyed him last night. 43 points off the bench. Very solid and scrappy defender, and great rebounder at his size as well. 26th pick and makes $6.7M.

Celtics fan here, and Pritchard is probably my favorite player to watch right now. On D, he's exceptional at keeping his man in front of him but of course doesn't have the size to do anything else on that side. Exciting offensive player who still has plenty of room to grow. The problem is that if the other team has strong and athletic wing defenders and they come to play, he can be completely shut down to the point that he will be practically unplayable. Watch how he does against OKC next week, I put his over/under at 2 baskets.

Can some Celtic fans chime in on this...in the games that I've watched he hasn't really been targeted. Any point guard who scores efficiently and facilitates without turning the ball over at a high rate is starting material in my eyes. Only knock that I have on him is that he's undersized.

Hauser probably gets targeted more, but yes he does get targeted. Oftentimes he holds up pretty well. Obviously if a big switches onto him down low he's going to struggle, but that goes for just about every PG

He used to just be a C&S 3pt specialist, but he really has improved his ability to manage the offense, make good reads, make decent passes, and get more shots inside. I don't think he could be on the starting 5 of a title winning team, but the thing is that you never know until he has the opportunity

Fringe all star that makes the game once during a career year if all the stars aligned.

He is so good that i'd vote for him for 6th man over Malik Beasley despite being a diehard pistons fan, and Beasley has been absolutely incredible for us

His rebounding ability is astonishing for a player of his size. Last year's playoff and finals run was the making of him as a legit weapon in this league

Honestly Ty Jerome is better than him. I'd take him over Pritchard in a heartbeat.

Give him the greenlight I think he could be a 20/6 guy in a similar role.

I feel like he's a system guy for Boston to be honest. Boston spams 50 3's per game and PP only has one job when he gets in the game and that is to spam more 3's. Every time I see him touch the ball he's shooting.I mean you could swap PP out for a lot of players and Boston would be fine, i.e. good 3p shooters mostly coming off the bench like Malik Beasley, etc.

hes probably in his ideal role now for winning. he has tons of games with only single digit points and poor shooting %. when hes not feeling his shot, others can take over in boston.

in terms of showcasing his talent and getting paid, he'd be better off somewhere else but wont be as effective. its hard being at the top of scouting reports.

I think Pritchard has maximized his talents in Boston, which is crazy considering he was asking out because he thought the opposite a few years ago.

I think at this point he's reached his potential, so it's a matter of how good you think he is. To me, coming off the bench hes this generations Lou Will/Crawford given how quickly he can change the game with his hot shooting, and his ability to handle the rock when needed.

What differentiates him from the microwave scorer is that he can run the point, and not just because he can dribble, like he's actually an NBA level set up man who can be a coach on the floor.

Because of that, I think the best comp for him is post injury/30's Mike Conely. If Pritchard was starting he would have seasons similar to what Mike was doing 16/4/7 and bombing 3's at a 40% clip. Mike wasn't the defender after that, so the comp is spot on in my opinion.

Mike did have his best statistical season and only AS selection post 30 but I don't think it's out of the question for Pritchard to do similar things when starting (minus the AS). He's the better shooter, and think his ability to play off ball makes his an ideal player in todays NBA.

People hating saying if he was starting your team would be trash forget how Conley changed the Jazz and the TWolves once he got there because of his shooting and steady low turnover pg play. The real question would be what is the price, not what he would give you.
