Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas - Rollins Converted to Standard Contract, Will be a RFA
Could someone tell me if we indeed have the 6.5M TPE from the Khris-Kuzma trade, and that it will be available to use next year prior to February so long as we’re not in either of the tax aprons?
I’m seeing conflicting information, and I’m not sure if we get one to use next season because we were a first apron team post trade.

I think now people can fully appreciate why that move was made. Jrue may very well be himself in the playoffs but imagine trying to get through a full season relying on him to be your third best player.
*2nd best player. Many will never appreciate that we sold high on Jrue at the absolute best time because the incredibly stupid championship confirmation bias narrative (with Boston) will always be there. But this team would be a bottom-8 offense and stuck firmly in play-in territory right now with this version of Jrue and whatever meh starter(s) we would have used Grayson and those pick swaps to acquire.
and they only got that chip by having the easiest path to a championship in 25 years if not history

His usage is about 33% which is 99th percentile
His percentage of fgs assisted by others is mind bogglingly low. Giannis and Dame are among the qualified league leaders in this, i think around 30-40%. Kpj is around 10%. Hes 100th percentile. And its not just overall but its every single major part of the floor.
His points per shot attempt is great and the bucks offense and defense are putting up good percentages w him on the court. His defensive rebounding is elite
His assist percentage is great.
But his overall impact on +/- is being dragged by turnovers. Thats the only thing i can find to explain it.
Long road ahead, but holy crap is he exciting.
The +/- thing is probably mainly because he's carrying bench units. All the numbers are still small but he's played 45 with one or both of Giannis or Dame against 113 without either.

I don't think "robbery" applies until you have a guy who contributes in the playoffs.

I'd give KPJ the full MLE as long as there's a "personal conduct" void clause in there.

Those KPJ Per/36 number also includes 4.5 turnovers. His A/TO ratio is 1.72 this year which ranks him 124th in the NBA amongst qualified guards (>15 assists). With the Bucks, his ratio is 1.75. KPJ has never had an A/TO ration over 2.0. For reference, distributor extraordinaire Jrue Holiday has never been under 2.0 with the exception of his rookie season at age 19. The numbers suggest KPJ is not a good passer.
KPJ's per/36 numbers with the Bucks are very similar to his Clippers stats. To his credit, he's been great at making 2 point shots (57% compared to his career average of 49%). And he's getting to the line and making them at a greater rate with the Bucks. There's no doubt he's given the Bucks a lift, and I hope it continues.

He is turnover-prone too, though. I won't go rewatch last night's game but I think I remember him having a couple turnovers while playing with Dame and Giannis. You're right, small numbers and minutes, but those minutes indicate he's turnover-prone. Hopefully he can clean that up and be more disciplined, especially in the half court sets when he's probing horizontally around the free-throw line.

Because he doesn't have a consistent role yet.. get him in a solid rotation so he knows where his guys are going to be

RealgmGM bucks board: we need a bench unit microwave guy
Also Realgm Bucks board: but his usage is too high!
Future Realgm Bucks board when Bobby comes back: KPJ needs the ball in his hands more.

I'm not gonna be too nit-picky. He's brought it on defense even if he gambles a lot, and his scoring has been crucial in those non Dame/Giannis minutes. Would just like to see him take (and make) more 3's in rhythm (his first instinct every time in catch and shoot situations is to pump fake), because the whole shooting 70% from long-2 thing just isn't gonna sustain itself, let alone against tougher playoff defenses.

I don't mind His long 2s because it's not his 'end all'.. he takes a couple so the defender bites later - it's setting up his late game drives and those are easy buckets, easy assists, and free throws/3 point plays and that's how you close games.

Another thing is KPJ shoots those few 2s from the middle of the floor making it easier to his own rebound or defend who gets it to slow the fast break.. BP and KM were usually to the side and slow so they wouldn't be in position on misses to do follow their shot or slow down an impeding fast break after the other team rebounds

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas - Rollins Converted to Standard Contract, Will be a RFA
I'm not sure he's ever had the opportunity to develop winning chemistry on his prior teams. The passing will improve. He is a very willing passer and what I've been noticing is he is expecting his teammate to anticipate the next move along with him, but guys aren't prepared for it. Sometimes he makes the right pass, but nobody is there.
Of course there is room to improve on his decision making. Just wanted to point out that chemistry is a two-way street. He definitely still needs to learn where his teammates like to be positioned.
He appears to be developing very good chemistry with Sims. I hope to see him with the opportunity to develop that with Giannis, who hasn't really had a playmaker like KPJ beside him before.

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas - Rollins Converted to Standard Contract, Will be a RFA
Furthermore with Bobby, his 'end all' is shooting long 2s... so let's say he's in in the 2nd half and we're protecting a 5 point lead. During that time he shoots 6 long 2s from the side and makes 3.. 50% ok we get 6 points.. but what happened on the 3 misses? Did they get easy layups or open transition shots? What about after thr 3 makes.. did Bobby get lost on D and give up open 3s or inside baskets? Lead is gone instead of extended. We've seen it 100 times.. I'd rather go with Sims.. keep getting him acclimated and ready and we'll have defense all game. Let BP sit as injury insurance and move on from him this summer.

I dont think all of kpj's turnovers are passing issues. I think a decent chunk is him just being a little reckless w his handle
