Adams has already listed SF as a place he's like to go.

However For him to become a 9er, he'd first have to be waived by NYJ, pass through waivers, and then be willing to come in on a discounted contract. The first 2 parts of that equation aren't hard to envision, but that last part is pretty unlikely.

Could be a nice way to get Rodgers here as well.

Rodgers would be a pretty nice QB2.
Are you kidding? The man is a cancer. No way you want a disruptive guy like that around.

Yeah, Rodgers tears apart as team as the QB1. I truly cannot imagine a worse QB2.

It was not a serious statement.

Was made in jest to poke at Big J for saying Rodgers should be brought in. His idea was to replace Purdy, my comment was telling him that Rodgers isn't better than Purdy.

LOL, knew you were not serious. I lost count of how many QBs he has stated over the season to replace Purdy but brining in Deshaun Watson had to be the most absurd. Can't imagine any QB with Rodger's type of career ever holding a clipboard at the end.

Joey Bosa released. Would be nice if he wanted to come to us on a cheap deal to play with his brother. Dude already got paid a ton

Can't see Joey taking less to play with Nick, but if he will I'd consider it. But he's older, lengthy injury history, and likely still pretty pricey.

Since Bosa was released, I believe that means signing him would not figure into the comp pick formula.

If that is accurate, there really isn't much downside in making a run at him. Having said that, cost is always the key factor in such discussions.

It's true that he would not count toward comp picks. But yeah, the downsides are cap hit and potentially losing him for more than half the season due to injury. Certainly worth reaching out, but I'd be reluctant to spend all that much on him. And the Bosas are not known for taking a home-team discount.

Speaking of comp picks, pretty savvy by the Steelers to pick up Wilson and Fields on cheap deals last year. Obviously helped them compete during the season, and now either (or both) of those guys could net a third- or fourth-round pick.

I know nothing about salary cap and contracts but are Chargers still paying him a ton even with releasing him?

Bosa was in the last year of his deal, and after two injury-plagued season, looks like he did a team-favorable restructure last year (curiously, we did the opposite with Deebo last year and restructured in a way that made his trade more painful, though we didn't have the injury leverage the Chargers did). His dead money hit is $11.1 million, which isn't nothing, but it's sure not the $30-odd million hit the Niners just ate.

49ers were the most injured team in the NFL this past season.

On the Move the Sticks podcast, there was talk of Aaron Banks getting an $18 million a year contract. :o

That would be great for the comp pick formula, but a terrible signing for whomever gives him that type of contract.

They suffered that same unfortunate circumstance in following season after both of the super bowl berths under this regime.

What a terrible signing that was.

I was pretty clear with my displeasure of that move when it was made. Was hoping I would have been proven wrong, but it didn't turn out that way.

This probably isn't much of a needle mover for Bosa's decision, but it is notable.
