they've been playing for SGA's MVP campaign for a while now. check out his shot distribution vs. the other starters, he's been taking a bigger portion of shots now that everyone's healthy, more than he was taking when they weren't and it seems pretty clear that's driven by the entire team wanting SGA to win.they're a young team and seem very close-knit and they obviously know these 40\50 pts games are what has won it for him and that's their perogative, nothing wrong with that. i'm sure Nuggets players would have done the same if Jokic cared about MVP (he doesn't)

The Thunder have the best net rating of all time and are 40 games above .500
If “playing for SGA to win MVP” can still produce these results, well, what does that tell you…?

It tells me the Thunder FO and their COTY have figured out how to exploit the current rules and schemes and having so many young players (many still on their rookie contracts!) producing at such a high level is the ultimate "hack" in this current CBA
I'd say i expect alot of copycating around the league but you'd need their level of drafting and developing to really mimick them and not many teams have that. It does make a strong case for good teams to draft relatively NBA ready players, who can contribute to winning while still on their rookie contracts (we see a similar thing in Denver who'd be cooked this season if not for Braun and to a lesser extent Watson and Strawtether, Braun has been their 2nd best player this season imo and he's making like 5M)
It remains to be seen how it holds up in the playoffs (i'm high on them winning it all this year but I felt the same way albeit to a lesser extent last season too) but for the rs they def proved it's a recipe for success
They took a unique approach to team building but also in terms of x's and o's and SGA is a true franchise player which is also an imperative ingredient in that recipe
It certainly doesn't convince me SGA has had a better season than Jokic and imo he hasn't but he's most def and unquestionably the MVP
For reference the Suns shell out north of a 150m for KD + Booker + Beal,
while the Thunder are paying a combined 75M this season for the services of: J-Dub + Chet + Dort + Joe + Wiggins + Caruso + Kenrich + Wallace
Hard to compete with that..that's what the Thunder's season tells me
That's 8 real NBA players, mostly good role players with a couple of stars, J-Dub has been a top 20 player this season...
Nuggets are shelling out 87m (more than those 8 combined) for just Jokic and Murray
It's kind of like Steph struggling with his ankles and ending up on a bargain contract for the Dubs dynasty peak but here we have a limited window, wherein the Thunder are paying SGA what MPJ makes..while having basically two top 20-30 players a combined 15m. granted, Chet has missed alot of the season but still, in the RS that's very hard to compete with. As rotations shrink in the playoffs, that edge gets reduced somewhat but either way, they're a heck of a team and personally i'm rooting for them
Imagine the championship parade with these young boys goofing around

edit: I forgot to list Jaylin and Dieng, cuz i did it quickly. that's a sick roster. currently the Thunder reserves are locking up Portland in the first quarter
update: Jaylin has a triple double with a team high +30. 2 mins left and OKC is up 12...
