The Dallas Stars have acquired Mikko Rantanen from the Carolina Panthers for two first round picks, two third round picks and Logan Stankoven. The Stars will also sign Rantanen to an eight-year extension worth approximately $12 million per season.
Ranatanen was acquired by the Hurricanes in January from the Colorado Avalanche. Ranatanen had expected to remain with Colorado for his entire career and was shocked by the trade. The Hurricanes tried to sign Ranatanen to an extension, but he wasn\'t ready to commit long-term the way he did with the Stars.
Rantanen has 27 goals and 70 points this season. The 6-foot-4 power forward posted a career-high 55 goals with the Avalanche in 2022-23 and followed that with 42 in 2023-24.
