Bring me the 9th pick, and trading for KD. Maximum chaos!
KD's already in decline, may possibly even only have 1 year of all-star play left, and he's a terrible fit. You don't want Ingram, Scottie or KD running around chasing guards.
Save the assets and wait for the Minny situation to blow up, then get Anthony Edwards (or something similar to this scenario). Let other teams squander their assets so that they can't compete for the next real game changer.
What assets do you think we will have that can outbid other teams for a player like Ant? Moreover, what makes you think that Ant is headed anywhere any time soon.
It was an example, hence "or something similar to this scenario". It's not like player movement has been stagnant lately.
Assets: depends on how well we draft and depends on what the other team wants. Phoenix is most likely heading in a different direction as soon as the off-season. If Houston and OKC squander their assets on Booker/Durant, that would open up things up. Suns would still be tanking, so their gained assets don't matter.
Why I used Minny as an example: they just got rid of KAT and are in the play-in at the moment, they're management is more concerned about money than winning. Their secondary star in Randle (30) isn't gonna get that much better, neither will Gobert (32), Conley's about to retire. Their future draft pick situation isn't that great. So what kind of future are we talking about here. A lot can change in 2-3 years.
