Good for him and his family. Even better that we won't have to pay it!

Among Kawakami's predictions for the off season are:

1. 49ers sign Joe Bosa to a medium contract
2. They also sign WR Tyler Lockett and C Drew Dalman
3. And that they DO NOT trade Aiyuk

Not sure how Lockett at 32 figures into the whole getting younger thing. As for Aiyuk, I think he may get traded. He has a $22.85 M option bonus due April 1. How do you think Aiyuk feels that they regret paying him that kind of money? lol

At the same time I heard he has a big cap hit if traded. Not sure they want to incur that

Yea and the other part of me says because of that they wont. They took a $31.5 M hit with Deebo, not sure they do it with two players. So many clowns out there like Cohn pushing the narrative that its about saving cash and that they dont care about the cap. Well Deebo's cap hit would've been $47M if they waited past March 22. I think they're right in wanting to be more wise in how much they pay guys and to get younger. But to label them as cheap is ridiculous considering how much spending they've done. They even made Saleh the highest paid coordinator in the league. That comes out of the Yorks pockets too. As for Aiyuk's contract, $30M per I agree is too much. I'd say more in line with $27-28 which is what Devonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle were getting paid.

Drew Dalman would be a crazy coup if we get him

re: Aiyuk, if the Bills offer #30 to us for him, hard to say no.

Geno Smith traded to the Raiders for a 3rd (over pay) and they are targeting Darnold as their next QB. I would be totally okay with this

Geno Smith is a starting QB in a league desperate for them. Deebo Samuel was 55th in the league in receiving yards and tied for 81st in receiving TDs last year. Over the last seven games last year he averaged under 30 yards, and only cracked 23 yards once. Even adding in the 136 rushing yards and one rushing TD, he wasn't even a top-50 receiver last year. And teams knew we had to cut him if we couldn't trade him. We were lucky to get a 5th.

the problem isn't that we got a 5th for Deebo that problem is that we traded him a year too late

“Organizational reset” could result in 49ers taking a harder line with contracts

It's long overdue because I think players got conditioned to knowing they'll get pretty much they want if they wait it out long enough so you have to put your foot down or every big time player is going to do it.

However I am concerned they'll take too hardline of an approach as sometimes the market is what the market is whether you like it or not. And sometimes the players simply have the leverage and you have to plug your nose and do it.

Yeah we all knew eventually they would have to pay the bill for all the restructures and this is a good year to do it.

For whatever reason people are thinking York is suddenly going cheap but I see all these moves to reign in spending that was starting to spiral out of control and cleaning up the old dead weight on the roster.

That's why if they want to dump Aiyuk I hope they figure out how to do it somehow this offseason and just take as much of our medicine as we can so the books and roster will be clear going forward.

I see the Rams as the model because when their SB window closed they got rid of the aging players who were becoming dead weight on the roster, started to stockpile picks, and cleaned up their books so they would retool to open the window for another run.

So far it looks like the 2024 draft is a hit so if they 2025 is a hit they could easily be back in the hunt for a Super Bowl.

you just have to do a better job of recognizing the keepers early, and if there is a question mark I'd rather trade a player too early than too late

Aiyuk should probably be traded this off season I agree with you, and if Buffalo approaches with their first or w/e or even a high 2nd you gotta pull the trigger.

Sounds like they are getting closer to a deal and if that's the case I'm sure it's going to be a below market deal so he can play with his brother.

I feel like his name is more reputation at this point but I do think he has good football left in the tank so if we can snag him for a below market deal I'm down for that.

I'd like to see a rotation of Nick, Joey, and Floyd to keep everyone fresher and healthier throughout the season because I do think Nick's snaps are a bit on the high side and shaving those down I feel would help his effectiveness throughout the course of a game.

I always believe the best defensive lines are the ones that can consistently rotate and constantly put fresh bodies in throughout a game.

I'd imagine they'll want to flip the money saved on Collins to Jonathan Allen. Allen was almost part of the Deebo trade so the 9ers are interested in him but at a cheaper price.
