That was fun to watch!!

Insane player. If you didn't catch the performance at least watch the OT where he cranked it up.

Westbrook got his due when his stats were also producing elite impact, which was not always the case.

Also, who's "we?" Based on this post, I highly doubt you "poo pooed" Westbrook during his triple double years. There were plenty of others singing his praises. Why overgeneralize?

MVP

Peaked higher than anyone in the game right now not named Lebron.

Keen to see how high he can climb that ladder.

Russ never did stuff like this, always been rather inefficient (when he was not, just league average, he won MVP)

This. These are the people trying to remove corner threes, or the three point line as a whole, get lebron banned from the league, suspend the warriors for a couple of seasons, no more free throws. But, at the same time, they'll say european basketball is trash too.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Not trying to be a prisoner of the moment. But I think this constitutes for a AUTO MVP. I don’t really care to listen to any debate at all, because there is none.

May not end up with the most MVPs. Won’t end up with the most titles.

But nobody at his or any other position can do what he does at every phase of the offensive side of the ball.

I'd argue that Bill Russell is the equivalent or greater defensive savant comparable to Jokic's offense. Since Russell's output resulted in actual megabuttload of rings, I give the nod to Russell. And I'd still put Kareem ahead of Jokic. Results do matter, asterisks aside. The object of the game is to win, and to win championships, not log triple doubles.

Pretty nice accomplishment, though. Let's give it twenty years and see how it all ages. I'm perfectly willing to change my mind.

Crazy stuff. All time great and 1 maybe 2 titles away from him being the torch bearer to the Jordan-Kobe-Lebron-Curry mantle

Seriously. Anyone who watched Westbrook back in the day could tell how "forced" some of his triple doubles were. I can recall so many instances where he forced passes in windows where he had a clear scoring opportunity just to up his assist totals.

Jokic gets all his numbers within the flow of the offense. He takes whatever the game gives him.

If you take away like 10 assists and rebounds it's a just a 30 point triple double. 30/ 20/20 with blocks and steals would be more impressive.

When exactly did Westbrook do stuff like this? In NBA 2K on Rookie difficulty? Also who or how was this poo pooed? The guy made 9 All NBA team and won an MVP while starting to decline in his early 30s, so I'd say he got his fair share of recognition for his 10 peak years.

What I really wonder though is why so many NBA fans can't just enjoy, or at least aknowledge accomplishments and great performances of players. I really don't know this from any other fan base of any sport I've ever followed.

I don’t know genius, have you ever looked at the standings and noticed that team A is 52-11 with a +12.9 point differential, while team B is 41-22 with a +5.2 point differential?

did you see team A's reserves beat a good and competitive PDX team holding them to 89 pts?
without any of their starters! what does that tell u about team A?

Honestly, the "inflated stats" era would have been the 60s, with aggressive MPG and 120 possessions per game. Jokic, playing 45 minutes last night, had a 60s type of night.
