I'm asking, would you guys do this??
Damon can't compare to Mr. Jones, offensively and DEFINATLY not defensively. Abreu is the same, and personally the only reason why I would add Abreu is because Damn alone couldn't get it done. But the MAJOR reason would be that Melky now has an everyday position. I hate misusing him the way we do, and its about time we put some home-grown players out there.
Jones is a FA, and nobody sees the guy re-signing/the Braves won't even bother resigning him. I say put him in CF, Melky in RF, we get young, and DEFINATLY better in many facets of the game. My question do you think it can be done/would you do the trade?
I say without a doubt, and I would LOVE seeing Andrew patrol the outfield the next coming seasons for us.

I wouldn't. Abreu makes everyone in the lineup better and he wears down pitchers with long at-bats. Look at this:

Alex Rodriguez from April 1 2006 to July 31, 2006:
.280/.383/.499
Alex Rodriguez from Aug. 1, 2006 to now:
.317/.413/.628
So what

I don't know...Jones kinda scares me. Something about him is just not quite right.

Andruw Jones- .262/363/.531 41 HR, .301 EQA, 49.3 VORP, 7.5 WARP
Bobby Abreu- PHI-.277/.427/.434, 8 HR, .309 EQA, 25.5 VORP, 4.3 WARP
NYY-.330/.419/.507, 7 HR, .323 EQA, 23.5 VORP, 3.0 WARP
Johnny Damon- .285/.359./.482, 24 HR, .291 EQA, 42.3 VORP, 5.4 WARP
Abreu's less valuable when you factor in age + position, but is that enough to throw in Damon to get Jones? On Jones's contract year when the Braves might deal him for cents on the dollar? Come on.

The reason the Braves want to trade him is to get rid of salary....think they would take on $26 million and get older, while moving Francour from right field???? I dont think so

I mean Abreu was more of a throw in for two reasons: playing time for Melky and because I didn't think Damon alone would get Jones. For some reason I just love the way the guy plays. Defensively, he's on Willie Mays' level, and offensively, when put in a better line-up than he is now, he can do wonders. I would just hate seeing him on a team he could help beat us, while we would just sit back and say damn, what could have been.
Imagine the rumors become reality and he goes to Boston...

No, I don't think they want to RID of his contract. Its more of, 'we aren't going to afford the guy, might as well deal him now and get something back'.
You know...the complete opposite and smart thing compared to what the Nationals did with Soriano??

Another good point.
So yeah, I doubt either team does this deal, unless the Yankees ate salary, which would make it go from bad to monumentally stupid. Also, expect Jones to be looking for at least Soriano money from whatever new team lands him.

Dude, you're totally underrating Abreu if you're calling him a throw-in. I certainly don't want to dump him just to open up time for Melky, who would be lucky to ever become anything near the on base machine Abreu is.

But they can aford the contracts of Damon and Abreu?? Anyones I dont think I'd trade 2 all-stars for one anyways. Or 2 of our top 3 hitters in our lineup. Our 2 on base machines, stolen base machines, etc.....
You might have some luck though with Philly, they seemed to think Abreu sucked....so maybe you could get Ryan Howard and Pat Burrell or something (that was a joke)
