Franchise Pairs by Common Theme - R1 - flaco vs Dr Positivity*

Here is a quick list of what you need in your writeup.

1. Specific years for each player on your team
2. Rotations and minutes for each player
3. Reasoning as to why your team will win and/or why people should vote for you.

Do not vote in this thread until both managers have submitted their writeups. Once the writeups are posted, I will add a poll, and the team with the most votes after 24 hours will advance. EACH MANAGER SHOULD ALSO VOTE FOR THEIR OWN TEAM IN THE POLL - IF YOU FAIL TO DO THIS, YOU ARE SIMPLY GIVING AWAY A VOTE. If the votes are tied, we will decide the matchup via AI vote.

You are not required to state or explain your vote, but you are free to comment in the thread if you want to.

If writeups aren't posted within 24 hours, we will vote solely based on the players they have drafted (and any rotations they have posted on their roster page).

PG: Isiah Thomas (1986: 16.2 FGA)
SG: Manu Ginobili (2005: 10.5 FGA)
SF: Tayshaun Prince (2004: 8.8 FGA)
PF: Dirk Nowitzki (2011: 16.2 FGA)
C: Dwight Howard (2010: 10.2 FGA)

PG: George Hill (2015: 12.4 FGA)
SF/PF: Paul Pierce (2015: 9.0 FGA)
PF/C: Sam Perkins (1999: 4.2 FGA)

87.5 / 88

PG: Isiah Thomas (38) / George Hill (10)
SG: Manu Ginobili (32) / George Hill (16)
SF: Tayshaun Prince (32) / Paul Pierce (16)
PF: Dirk Nowitzki (38) / Paul Pierce (10)
C: Dwight Howard (38) / Sam Perkins (10)

Defensive matchups: Isiah on Paul, Manu on Jones, Prince on Gervin, Dwight on Davis, Dirk on Horford

- First off please note the significant bench advantage: We have 2015 Hill (his peak season), Wizards Pierce, and Perkins is a solid enough 8th man and gives us a Channing Frye era Cavs "spacing lineup of death", while his 7th and 8th man are 1999 Daniels (7mpg in the playoffs for the Spurs) and 2009 Dampier. Daniels is thrown to the wolves when Paul sits as there isn't a great wing playmaker to take pressure off him.

- This is 2015 Davis and 2021 Paul making the combination overall less potent than mid 80s Isiah and Dirk. The matchup isn't ideal but Dwight is not stretched out as much as guarding the 3pt shooting Davis and also I believe young Davis guarding peak Dirk 1 on 1 isn't the best use of his defensive ability either, and Dwight will cause Horford problems. Isiah and Prince are good defenders for Paul and Gervin.

- Gervin is a higher scorer than Manu but I believe the latter will find a way to blend in more with our PG/PF combo.
It's going to be a glorious day... I feel my luck could change

Best of luck, Doc!

Rotations
PG: Chris Paul (36) / Antonio Daniels (12)
SG: Eddie Jones (36) / George Gervin (12)
SF: George Gervin (24) / Dorian Finney-Smith (24)
PF: Anthony Davis (36) / Dorian Finney-Smith (12)
C: Al Horford (36) / Erick Dampier (12)

Offense
All starters can put the ball on the floor to create their own shot. We run a PnR-heavy offense forcing Dirk tot defend in space. Option 1A is CP3 running the PnR with AD/Horford. The latter can either roll or pop from 3. Option 1B is Gervin creating his own shot. He's arguably a top 5 scorer in NBA history. Eddie and Horford are the ultimate glue guys.

Defense
All players on the roster but Gervin are plus defenders, to say the least. CP3 and EJ share POA duties. We go under vs Isiah and dare him to shoot the 3. We fight through or go over the pick in the Manu-Dirk actions. My bigs may either drop vs Howard or closeout-and-contest vs Dirk.

FGA
2021 Chris Paul 12.6 Image Image
2001 Eddie Jones 13.8
1977 George Gervin 16.3 Image Image
2015 Anthony Davis 17.6 Image Image Image
2016 Al Horford 12.8 Image
1999 Antonio Daniels 3.9 Image
2020 Dorian Finney-Smith 7.4
2009 Erick Dampier 3.5

Total: 87.9
