I, as someone who has Russian roots find what is happening to Ukraine deplorable. NATO is large, and has support from the other major members, it's Trump/Vance who is taking this hard stance because they don't want to disappoint their mentor Putin, and also want to find a way for the US to benefit at the same time because they like stealing from Peter to pay Paul... Peter being the weak/poor, and Paul being the rich.

So your idea of peace is using the threat of war to try to get the smaller nation to comply. Do you understand what Peace is? It seems you would be in the front lines helping the Trump administration take over Canadian borders so you can call it helping them achieve peace with us?

Ultimately, any "peace deal" needs to answer:

1. Will it protect Ukraine’s sovereignty long-term?
2. Will it deter further Russian aggression?
3. Does it give Ukraine security guarantees, or just delay another war?

Going by what Vance or Trump said is pretty stupid, it's obvious they have no idea what they are doing.

If Trump truly ends the war while ensuring Ukraine remains a viable, independent state, that would be a huge diplomatic achievement. But if his solution is just "Give Russia what it wants and walk away," it’s not peace it’s forced surrender.

The land Russia is occupying needs to go back to Ukraine, otherwise it sets a precendent for future land grabs. I think that's pretty easy to understand.

I agree with your argument however who will liberate those lands? NATO? It seems that we're in a new era where international norms of the last 7 decades are going away swiftly. Big powers will use whatever means at their disposal to attain objectives and move unilaterally.

I feel for the people in Ukraine-However, NATO without the USA is nothing. England, France and Germany are a shell of their former selves. That is the sad reality.
