Star players forcing themselves to specific teams or driving down their value intentionally to not get traded is a mockery. Teams outside of the main popular teams need to be able to get stars somehow to balance that out.

Example OG quitting defense on the Raptors a month before he got traded or Siakam telling teams he wouldn’t sign with them if traded there
