Offers for Paul George + #2 pick.
Assuming Philly gets the #2 pick which most likely means Dylan Harper + Paul George.
Do you think the #2 pick is enough to get a team to bite on the Paul George contract if so who?

Re: Offers for Paul George + #2 pick.
I'll do Charlotte since it's my team.
I would take PG/Harper for Bridges/Nurkic
Gives the Sixers cap relief with Nurkic's expiring contract and they get Bridges who is currently a better player than Paul George and a much better fit with their young backcourt.
Charlotte obviously does this to get Dylan Harper. PG fits in nicely at the wing with Miller who he can mentor. They also still have their own lottery pick which could net them another young player.

I would think Philadelphia simply rebuilds then. Its a gift.
Teams don't trade Top tier picks as a salary dump anymore. In the 2000s? All the time. But not anymore.

I don’t think even Philly would use the number 2 pick in a great draft to dump salary.

100% agree. Philly is not going to trade the #2 pick in a loaded draft to dump a bad contract.

Yeah you keep #2 and hope George comes back to like 70-80% of what he was

I bet you would.

The problem is that I expect a bunch of teams to easily beat that offer. PG's contract is not as much of an issue for teams looking to add high-end young talent (pretty much all non-contending teams) and they should be willing to offer actual value. If not, the 76ers just keep Harper and George.

Re: Offers for Paul George + #2 pick.
Why in God's name would the Sixers move the #2 pick in the draft to get off Paul George's contract?
Like for real... Even just assuming PG is completely cooked... how is cap relief more beneficial to them building than the #2 pick in the draft?

Philly wouldn’t just block your number for this, they’d cancel their phone contract.
Miles Bridges as the best piece coming back for an elite prospect like Harper is insulting

That is true, in a vacuum. But including PG means eating a gigantic salary for a player that will never, ever play well enough to justify that salary.
Not saying the deal makes sense for PHI; it doesn’t.

Re: Offers for Paul George + #2 pick.
You could take the #2 pick out of the deal and it would make more sense...PG might be trashed or he might just be X% of his previous HOF self...honestly, this draft doesn't excite me at all AFTER #1 and #2. Maybe CHA thinks highly enough of Ace Bailey or whoever falls after Flagg and Harper, but even then, CHA probably needs to send back a frp.
I don't think PG's brand is deteriorated to that point yet...maybe in another year. I'm not saying teams will trade FOR him, but PHI won't have to pay this extreme a price to get off him.

Sure, but weighing a couple years of financial difficulty vs. adding a piece you expect to be a foundation of your roster for the next decade plus is a no brainer.

There's a scenario where trading down from #2 to, say, #4 or #5 might be worth swapping PG for Bridges/Nurk if Philly is really committed to chasing a title with Joel (a bad idea IMO) and isn't enamored with Harper or Ace Bailey...but that's a very different scenario than trading the #2 pick and getting NO long-term value back.

Re: Offers for Paul George + #2 pick.
A shiny and just as injured Kawhi. Or bring the Beard back
/Greenfont
Lettuce be cereal though, *if* Philly trades the second pick, assuming that's where they end up, they shouldn't attach it to George and water down it's value. Unless, as noted above, it's something like Bridges/Green/Diabete (would take that over Nurk personally) and moving down to #5. That is, of course, unless you really think the delta off from Harper/Bailey to Johnson/Edgecombe/Jakucionis is the size of the Grand Canyon.
Either trade the #2 with ballast to get a guy to help now while hoping George returns to at 70% or get your youngster, who will need his first new contract as George and Embiid are about to expire.

Agreed, but this could be expanded into a more nuanced discussion. Say the 76ers aren't "enamored" with Harper or Bailey... could they trade back for a "get out of jail free card" to turn Paul George/Joel Embiid into a few several useful players? It could be the only option for the 76ers to get out of their cap hell.

You don’t trade Harper or Ace with an injured Joel.
But… AD wins? Or PG and 2 for PJ, Klay, Marshall, Gafford, 11th, 2029 LAL first?
Go back to what I did in other thread though. Give Dallas the LAC first and take any of the vets.

Philly better off keeping both and running it back with a healthy Embiid.

Re: Offers for Paul George + #2 pick.
If we get pick 4 or 5, I'd eat PG's contract to just move up those couple of spots
Philly probably gets Nurk's expiring, Josh Green, Grant Williams as salary filler. Philly doesn't get Bridges, who despite a TERRIBLE start to the season is still having a better year than PG

Utah seems like the best. Markky and kg.
Washington also, straight up or as 3 team deal where Washington eats pg and gets picks from third team.
Like: Washington gets pg and picks from Houston. Houston gets pick 2, filler. Philly gets combo of players from Houston and Washington, including one really good forward prospect (Eason or Jabari).
