Maybe if we get a fair-value offer, i.e. young star + pick(s), then you pull the trigger. We'll have to see what that looks like. Maybe if we really don't believe in his long-term availability then you let him showcase himself and trade him at next year's deadline (heartbreaking AF).
The key to any major trade will be keeping our pick. If it lands 1-3, you keep Flagg or Rutgers bro. If it lands 4-6, I'm not opposed to trading it for a star that aligns with *Maxey's* timeline (i.e. LaMelo, Zion, Ja). I don't think Edgecombe or Kasparas have franchise-level player upside.
I'm not sure how many teams will be interested in George now that GSW is off the table. You might be able to attach his salary to the pick to get one of the aforementioned young stars.
Pick + George for Lamelo/Williams
LaMelo/McCain/Butler
Maxey/Grimes/Walker
(MLE)/Edwards/Council
Williams/Yabusele
Embiid/Drummond/Bona
Pick + George for Zion/Jones
Maxey/McCain/Butler
Grimes/Edwards/Walker
Jones/(MLE)/Council
Zion/Yabusele
Embiid/Drummond/Bona
I love the LaMelo trade but hate any idea of trading for Zion as long as Embiid is on the roster. Well beyond fantasy would be doing both of those trades, CHA with George and NO with Embiid, and replacing the pick in one of them with McCain.
LaMelo/Butler
Maxey/Grimes/Walker
Jones/Edwards/Council
Zion/Yabusele
Williams/(MLE)/Bona
Not sure how it would work, but it would be insanely entertaining.
Countering your fantasy scenario with an even more fantasy scenario...lol.
1. Win top-3 pick and draft Flagg or Bailey
2. Trade George/McCain/future 1st for Lamelo/G. Williams
LaMelo/Butler
Maxey/Grimes
Flagg/Edwards
G. Williams/Yabusele
Embiid/Drummond
